What's the deal with the monarcas? I see that they're still listed on Habanos SA website, although I know how little that means.

Have these been discontinued?

I'm a huge Upmann fanatic and have wanted to try these for a while.

Discontinued. Dress box in 2006, A/T in 2009

Great resource here:

I'm lucky to still have a few of both.....great cigars to my taste.

Just found that website after I posted this - didn't show up during my cursory Google search. Guess I'm gonna hafta stock up on something nice and hit up a trade room somewhere.

Such a shame that these are gone. They sounded magnificent.

I just bought 21 of them from a tobaco store owner who sold them out for no price at all, but i dont now from what year, waiting to try one :)

Well how could one sell Sir Winstons and Mag 50's when Monarcas were becoming just as good, if not better, for less?

They were very good but not as good as the sir winny.

I've never had the chance to own boxes, or even a handful, of Monarcas A/T and Sir Winston from the same year (and preferably with the same factory code), then this is a statement that I would never dare say.

I've had a 5er of 2002 Monarcas a/t and probably 10 Sir Winstons from 2002 and I preferred the Monarcas (though both are excellent).

Got a box of Monarcas A/T 2007 from our hosts that are superb. Holding onto these for some serious aging

Have a couple handfuls each of the Upmanns and Punch Monarcas (Monarchs). Prefer the Punch to be honest.

The best Monarcas beats the best Sir Winston. However when you start talking large sample sizes Sir Winstons are consistently heads and shoulders over Monarcas.

I also had some outstanding Monarcas a/t from 2007 but I wanted to compare the same year ;)

For me, the Monarcas is the winner overall.

They are still easy to get in Sweden but a bit pricey

I love them, I'n not sure I would say the best Monarca's beat the best Sir Winnies, but they are good. My Sir Winnies from '98 and '99 are unrivaled!
