So, it's been a while since I started a thread, and keeping in theme with my other posts, this will be for the boardriders amongst us. From me noticing Fabes' skate shot for his avatar, to SurpriseMVP

I've just started learning to surf after moving to a coastal suburb to live. I've done a lot of sports but this is super hard for me. It took me several sessions to even stand up. I've been going ev

Watched most of the Tahiti Pro at Teahupo'o. As Kelly said, "best surfing comp ever". The semi match up between John John and Kelly was the best 30mins of big wave paddle in surfing I've seen. A little disappointed though with Medina using positioning tactics on such an epic day. But he stood up in the end. Seemed almost like a changing of the guard as the young bull took over from the old bull. If only Kelly hadn't been sucked too far inside on that second last wave in the final and we wouldn't have just seen another 10 point ride from Kelly but quite possibly the best finish to a final ever and one the best waves ever. He just got clipped by the foam ball on exit - just a matter of a couple of metres really. On the wish list would be to sit in the channel one year at that comp and combine some diving and fishing in the holiday mix.

I've done my share of skateboarding(started in the early 70's) and moved on to surfing, mostly on the east coast of the US. Lucky enough to be relocated(work) to the island of Oahu(where surfing was born). Surfing is King here and like no other place on earth. It is also the home to some of the best surfing spots in the world. Sunset,Pipeline(Banzai),Log Cabins are crazy and for the experienced only, now if the swells are rolling head on down to Waimea there you are going to see 30 to 50 foot faces and likely your maker(never surfed it when it was over 15' faces).

I lived a 5 minute walk from Waikiki beach and enjoy surfing everyday, never a bad run-in with the haoles(locals) but on the north shore your likely to get your ass beat if you do any shoulder humping.

Have seen some incredible surf(50'+faces that made the ground move under your feet when it broke) and and met a bunch of great people there in my 9 years on the island, way to much to list, but enjoyed every second.
