Who else is a fan of this cigar? I'm chilling out on the terrace looking at the ocean and enjoying one of these, some Amstel Light and listening to the Happy Mondays.

Haven't had many yet, but I have a box in the cooler from 2011 they look very good, out of the 5 or so smoked, all had a very rich chocolate velvet smoke but with an incredible green bitterness. I loved the profile, can't wait for them to round out and start being accessible. Every time I light one I am disappointed, but patience might just reward on these.

Big fan of the cigar. Got a few 08 boxes from Rob years back that have been gold. Dark and oily. Down to my last box unfortunately. Production seems to be spotty the last few years would love to stock up on a few more boxes if I see something worth grabbing. Enjoy!

VR Famosos one of my favorite, there is always a box or two of those in my humidor. Almost little Cohiba Robusto at times.

got a box a couple months ago already half way through it. every has been great. to me they are cross between a cohiba robusto and HdM epi 2

I had a few singles here and there but had mixed results with them - a couple were really harsh but the storage conditions from the store where I picked those up were questionable at best. Others were very nice.

I figured I should give them a proper try now, that's why I have a box on the way.

The cigar that hooked me. An odd choice I know!

I have about half a box left of HQ ones I grabbed in a LFTH a couple of years ago. I love their rich espresso/chocolate flavours. One of my favorite and most consistent cigars :)

Hearing all these glowing reviews gives me hope that my 2012 box will settle down a bit. I just tried one again and they were wild and all over the map. Definitely need another year or more to settle.

Famoso is my current go-to choice. Agree with everyone about the smooth chocolateyness, but it's the warm spicy final 3rd that does it for me

I've had couple of singles here and there and I have been impressed. Lots of flavor and very nice profile. Definitely in my wish list.

I'm a fan of them with some age 4+ years.

My 2011 have some good VR flavor, but also some tartness too. Hopefully it will go away in time.

Heard via some reliable sources in Cuba last week that the Famosos is very likely to get the axe soon, possibly in 2018. Certain people are stocking up on these and I must admit they were a bit hard to find in Cuba so there may be something to it.

This is horrible news.  I suppose its time to start stocking up on this one.

That's an odd first CC but I can understand it. I had an extremely dark unicos that was glorious. If it were to have been my first CC, it would have got me too. However, it is the reason that I purchased a recent box of famosos. I haven't tried a famoso yet though. I'm going to let them rest for another 6 months or so. I'm worried that I will smoke one and not like it. To this date, the lone unicos is the only VR I've smoked.

Thanks for letting us know @NSXCIGAR. I know El Pres touted these becoming more scarce a little while ago (like 18 to 24 months back) so I'm not surprised, sadly.

I had a very similar conversation - the opinion was give it another 3-4 years and VR is going to be axed. A lot of people are annoyed with what Hirochi did and kind of putting the blame on the demise of the VR brand as we know.

Could you explain exactly what Hirochi did for those of us that are not aware?

All I know is he went and created his own non-Cuban cigar. The band was a definite copy of the VR Cuban band.

Wow...that is basically an exact copy of the cuban band.  I wonder how that cigar smokes btw.
