CanuckSARTech Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Ladies and gents, I'd just like to express my heartfelt thanks and appreciation. The support that I've received from BOTL's and SOTL's from on here has been very comforting. Sorry (and your welcome, LOL) for my absence and lack of communication on the issue to some, but I appreciate all the outpouring of help and assistance. For those not in the loop, and without going into too much detail, back in January my family's world was rocked. My Dad was in an accident returning from a trip, which lead to the discovery of a broken neck and cancer throughout his body. A few warning signs were there back into October looking back on it in hindsight, but it was a very quick couple of weeks since the start of January, with his 1-1/2 week orderal being in Trauma/Neurosurgery ICU and me co-ordinating everything for the family there, and on Feb 3rd he was removed from life support and passed away. He was going to be 61 this summer, and was the rock in our family that I tried to live up to (though I towered over him and dwarfed him, LOL), and he was the bridge that connected a HUGE circle of community too. His loss is the biggest one that could affect me aside from something happening to my wife and children. He is, and will always continue to be, deeply missed. This also happened after I was dealing with some various work crisis' that struck me in early January, and continue to affect me today as well. So, the past 60 days or so have been turmoil at the best of times. The community here, and also at my work, has been great. While not burning up the phone lines, the occasional "checking-in" from many members worldwide has been a humble assistance to me. I'm still trying to get my feet under me after basically a month off from work due to all this (he did EVERYTHING, and my Mom is very lost - she hasn't paid a bill in I-don't-know-how-many years). But I appreciate all the well-wishes and sentiments, along with the occasional treats and tidbits of wisdom and personal insight, that have arrived from far and wide, Germany, Australia, the U.S., the U.K., and definitely from all my fellow Canuckistans. Thank you. http://www.mckinlayf...ule.asp?id=3767

Truly sorry to hear of your loss as well as the issue with work. What a horrible start to the year and I do believe things will start to get better as the year progresses. stogieluver Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 I am so sorry to hear of your troubles, Keith. Losing your dad at any age is difficult to deal with, but to lose him much earlier than you might expect, is especially difficult. I lost my dad 22 years ago to a massive heart attack at age 64. My mother, now 86, is still living thankfully, but thinking about the time they could have had together is heart breaking. Your pain will gradually diminish, but will never go away. Just be thankful for the time you had with him and continue to live your life like you know would make him proud. That would honor his memory andl life more than anything else you could do. Take care. Brighter days are ahead.
