USA
What is your favorite box/jar/humidor? If you can name one from that Aladdins cave of awesome A preferred one is really difficult to name. From the style i would say the humidor antiguo from H. Upmann. I will present it in a later post.

Habana Mike
Grüezi Urs You have the most expansive and amazing collection I believe I've ever seen, virtually or in person! I doubt I've ever even been in a tobacconists shop with the variety of cigars, books, humidors and all else you've shared with us, and I've been in many of the tops all over the world. I must wonder if MRN consulted you for some of the content in the forthcoming edition. Hoping I make it back to Zürich again some time soon, would love to experience your bunker in person if you'd have me - always loved the town and the lake too..... Cheers and enjoy, although it seems you already do quite well as it is

polarbear
Urs, I mean no disrespect in what I'm about to ask, so please take no offence, but What drives a person to amass a collection of cigars that it would take 3 lifetimes to smoke? Do you see yourself getting to a point in the future where you will look at all you have and say to yourself "that should tide me over until I leave this world"? There must be close to 100,000 cigars in your collection and I wonder if you plan to stop buying, or at least slow down in the future. It would be a shame for someone such as you to spend so much time and money building such a collection but not being able to smoke through a third of it in your lifetime. Do you have children that enjoy cigars to pass what you dont get through onto? I often look at my collection, around 2000 cigars, and wonder to myself if i'll ever get to a point where I can still afford to buy cigars but will look at all I have and say "I dont need any more cigars for a while" I do enjoy that you smoke some of the rarer cigars you have such as the book editions and Gran Reservas, because what is the point of a cigar if not to be enjoyed? Your collection is the best and most diverse of any I have ever seen. You have boxes and jars (in multiples, in some cases) that I have only read about. You have my awe, good sir Please, keep sharing, I await your next post with baited breath.

polarbear
*If we had the funds and the means: the time and the space...we'd probably out do Urs here, ourselves - wouldn't we? Of course ;-) It just goes back to the age old questions of how much is enough? As I've said, I mean no disrespect. I'm just curious what drives a persob to purchase one more box when he knows he already has 500 sitting in his bunker
Knopper
this is a good question-how much is enough, but when you ask yourself, you will get the answer. Its never enough, while by the time your taste and habbits change and so you will go to an other direction. This means for me aged and rare cigars .Allso we are all collectors and hunters and by this we will find everytime some new sticks which we need. When you will be older and you have the money and the time your item will go to good and well aged cigars. And allso when you have a favorite Blend and seize ,nobody knows if they will stop the production by marketing reasons. In the other case what will happen when the embargo fall down or the asian buy to every price?
Popular Post USA
What drives a person to amass a collection of cigars that it would take 3 lifetimes to smoke? Good Question: Collecting doesn't look to make sense many times, with they eyes of another person. I think it's not specific for cigars. You can take as example a stamp collector. Make it sense to collect actual stamps and don't use it to send letters? Or a car collector, makes it sense to collect oldtimers and don't drive with it? Collecting something gives a nice feeling, especially when you have complete series of something - that's all, I think. To look at it, to touch it, to smell it and sometimes to smoke it. Collecting and hunting was ever a characteristic of mankind. Do you see yourself getting to a point in the future where you will look at all you have and say to yourself "that should tide me over until I leave this world"? I don't know where the point is reached. As long as I have the motivation and the money I will be a collector. It would be a shame for someone such as you to spend so much time and money building such a collection but not being able to smoke through a third of it in your lifetime. ... I do enjoy that you smoke some of the rarer cigars you have such as the book editions and Gran Reservas, because what is the point of a cigar if not to be enjoyed? I don't smoke it all alone. I smoke very often with friends, business-partners, do an exchange of cigars with other aficionados, etc. And at the end, when I have to go, it's a heritage for my son and others, like all the things I have made / done in my life. Your collection is the best and most diverse of any I have ever seen. You have boxes and jars (in multiples, in some cases) that I have only read about. I'm sure, I'm not the only one here with a huge collection. There are other members with a much larger collection, but they never had posted it like I do. For me, posting my collection has nothing to do with, hey look at me, I have more than you. It's really only about sharing our passion. Everybody is invited to meet me in my lounge and enjoy a good smoke, have a nice talk, build up a relation which turns maybe in a good friendship. I like to meet people, hear what they have to say and exchanging points of view.

Croz71
Urs, I personally thank you for posting your pics. I've only been smoking cigars for 3 years (since my 40th birthday) and have never, even seen half of the cigars you have before. Looking at your collection is an absolute joy for me. I only have around 300 cigars which I'm very very proud of and none of them are anything special. I could only imagine the pride you must feel with your collection. Well done mate! Please keep the pics coming. Allan

LouisMazzini
Really amazing to see. Great quality on the pics as well. Do you collect vintage cigars as well.....I suppose that's a relative term...but I'm talking about 30 years old and such. Original PL Magnums, Punch Serie B, old Dunhills, etc.? Thanks for posting such a fine collection. Really a trip to look at. Cheers!

My budget is limited in some way. 'Unfortunately' I cannot buy all the stuff at one time. But I'm sure I will extend my collection to vintage cigars - step by step.

My budget is limited in some way. 'Unfortunately' I cannot buy all the stuff at one time. But I'm sure I will extend my collection to vintage cigars - step by step. I like this method better anyway. The problems with vintage cigars is that they are expensive and more importantly, you never know where they've been and how they've been stored. By collecting current releases, you have a better idea of their history.
Knopper
this is true only by yourself you can be sure. But allso there are a lot of colectors which keeps their cigars in very good conditions.Vintaged cigars are expencive while you didnt find them very often and some lines diappeared complete from the market.Only from time to time you find them in auctions in england and for a price which is very high.So in this case its a good opportunity to build up your own vintage stock
