Cigars are one of my really huge passions. They are a good companion for me at home and at work. I've said to me: If you work long and hard, you have the right to do a good chill-out. For this I have

But the most cigars I have in my Swiss cigar bunker... here they have silence and are aging perfectly...

Help! A Punch Poderosos ER 2009 Suiza stalagmite is growing, until under the ceiling of my office!

Banana leaf? I know some countries around there traditionally use it as a wrapper or filler. I've never had the chance to smoke anything with banana leaf in its construction but I've come across a few people who have. They aren't as bad as someone might automatically think!

Was trekking through northen Thailand jungles a few years back, jumped into a waterfall, landed on a rock and broke my foot, the next couple of days and nights were spent smoking "herbs" in banana leaf, taking any tablets I could get my hand on and polishing off multiple crates of chang attempting to get out the jungle by hopping, piggy backs, make shift stretchers, mopeds, pick ups - all quite the adventure.

Didn't think to take notes on the banana leaf though haha

A couple of the older men in the village were smoking them around me constantly this Spring in Cambodia. The smell was not unpleasant.

Eine prächtige Sammlung. Dank für uns zeigt, Urs.

I have something similar (albeit much smaller), also purchased in Burma.

Outside is banana leaf (I think), inside is shredded tobacco and other herbs. Taste is very light, sweet, and floral... not totally unlike the bowl of spices they have next to the register in Indian restaurants. It's not unpleasant.

At this time, I know hardly anything about cigar aging. However, I'm still very interested to know the answer to this question.

I see so many claims that a good couple of years will put a cigar in full bloom. Is there a limit to this? That is to say, is there risk for cigars to be aged "out" of their prime? I began thinking about this after considering Urs' vast collection. How many of those cigars will benefit from 30 years of age, and how many of them will people look back and say, "Ah, what a monument... but this cigar was probably served best at 7 years".

Cheers.

I have just read through these 11 pages and must say your collection a sight to behold, truly amazing.

The pictures, reviews and booklets, not many chances to see and read about someone enjoying these beautiful rare cigars. Thank you for sharing your passion with all of us.

This should be in the classic posts someday!

Nice. If I owned a cigar shop as well I could build my collection up.

Sour grapes, buddy? ;)

This is just fantastic. I love seeing glorious cigars get smoked. That old cab of Partagas Shorts must be pretty special to you.

That pyramid of RA Imperiales had me jealous. Sometimes I wish I didn't live in the USA so I could just buy without the headache.

Thank you for sharing. It is unusual for a person with such an extensive and expensive collection to be so forthcoming.

If you don't mind what do you use for the climate control in the vault.

Thanks again for all the wonderful information and rare pictures!
