potpest Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 Have been following this with interest. A couple of questions. In a particular marca in the same year, would the same tobacco blend be used in just different sizes? From year to year, different leaves come in from different harvests. Wouldn't the natural change in weather/ stock/ whatever naturally change the flavours in the tobacco? Not sure on the first point, but on the second: As far as I know, the flavours of the tobacco will change, but the job of the blender is to, by trial and error, change the percentages of the Ligero and Seco in order to match the intended flavour of that particular cigar
Colt45 Posted February 21, 2014 Author Posted February 21, 2014 In a particular marca in the same year, would the same tobacco blend be used in just different sizes? Perhaps one of the keys of the matter - are the various sizes within a line intended to taste similar to each other. I guess different sizes would preclude the blends from being "exactly" the same - lancero versus prominentes, for example. Certainly tobacco will vary year to year, farm to farm, etc

Like wine, different years can show different levels of intensity, ripeness, alcohol, but the wine is recognisably the same wine.......
