Puros Y Vino
Found this on another board I frequent. Pre-Embargo Romeo Y Julietta "Coronas San Martin". Some pictures here. Original thread here. Very interesting. Never heard of this RyJ line. The box looks legit. The band is unique. Never seen an RyJ band like this. Thoughts?
Maplepie
I remember Partagas Boterills that used to be on Mitch's 'preembargo' sticks. Along with H Upmann and other ones I honestly can't remember because of the weird names and bands. Honestly, pre embargo have so many different makes, it's ridiculous. Especially when Cuba was free and could just have private little rollers commissioned under RyJ, partagas, etc. Much like Hart Brothers and mcwhyte is to Scotches, it's almost impossible to keep a list of all pre embargo. Maplepie
Besides, you of all people need to know if the tobacco is older or new just by inspection, eh Frank?
MontrealRon
Hi, Frank. Neat box, surely genuine. Was this found in Canada? The apparent date stamp of 9/60 is quite like the 9/70 stamp on my unopened box of R&J Belvederes, which was most probably originally purchased in Canada. Perhaps it was applied by the importer, or perhaps by the factory according to the specifications of the importer? Anybody else seen such a stamp? As to the band - Last year in Havana I picked up a collection of mostly pre-embargo cigar bands. The variety is astounding. The larger companies, such as R&J probably used hundreds of different bands, many for special orders. It seems the fabricas would make up anything, for anyone, if there was money to make. Maplepie
Wonder if they can be brought back to life , if they were not stored in a humi Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk only if he buys them at the pre embargo price definitely no guarantees at all there. And for how long too!?! Too many variables. To any collector, it's almost close to rubbish... teary-eyed rubbish.

I've asked the OP where he got them from. Awaiting answer. Your 9/70 stamp is similar to 9/75 stamp I have on an old box of La Escepcions. FWIW. I bought it in Montreal. Box codes didn't officially exist back then. So the importer/distributor must have put them on themselves.
