River Monsters

Jeremy-Wade-1.jpg

I know it's been around a while but who else here watches River Monsters with Jeremy Wade?

Absolutely love the show, Jeremy seems like such a down to earth bloke who says it how it is, I envy his job, would love to travel the globe attempting to catch fish that literally freak me out knowing that we still have fish in our rivers that look like they're from the Jurassic period!!

Surprised to see the number of Bull Sharks swimming in land up Freshwater river systems as well as fish with human like teeth that like to bite off testicles.huh.png

I used to swim in the Murray River as a kid and teenager, one never knows whats lurking beneath any freshwater system.unsure.pngwink.png

enjoy the show. great stuff watching the different fish. knowledgeable guy, top scenery/locations, exciting fishing. he is terrific when he chats away about the fish and what he is doing.

he is a pain in the arse when he bangs on, every show, about how "this could be my most dangerous mission yet". he is fishing, for christ's sake, not invading iraq.

I like this show too. He had an episode near my home in Texas where he fished for giant aligator gar. We had a 10 ft red one that would boil up at my childhood fishing spot. Very few people believed me when I talked about how big it was.

Love that show! I've watched every episode... one of my favorites is the Chernobyl episode where he is actually fishing in the cooling pond near the reactor.

It is season 5, titled "Atomic Assassin" and yes he did catch one, quite an extraordinary fish. He was one of the few people to ever grant access to the cooling pond to fish so the fish would help medical examination of the radiation present in water. I won't give too much away- you have to check it out- great episode!

LOL!!! I agree though you do know he's been threatened at gunpoint in the Amazon, survived a plane crash relatively unscathed on yet another Amazon expedition, and on his last trip to the Amazon was rammed in the chest by a 6-foot Arapaima.(I just watched that episode night before last)

Aside from those, he has also caught malaria in the Congo where the locals thought he would die, been detained as a suspected spy while fishing at the Mekong River.

What's next !? Will he find Weapons of mass destruction on another expedition?biggrin.png
