For non Cubans right now I am liking med, med/full cigars like the Cohiba Black and Macanudo 1997 Limited Maduro and some of the other dark cigars. Not so full that I get a head buz but smooth, pillows of smoke, even burn, chocolaty, coco. I have yet to really find a mild-med cigar that I really like. I tried a Monte Cristo Epic #2 and though it was smooth, good cigar really was not memorable for me. So anyway, is there any Cuban single stick or perhaps small sampler on *****INT that they would recommend?

Nope, it was a non cuban. I would like to find a memorable smoke as my intro to Cubans and ready to smoke within a month. If I like a particular one I would probably order a box of one and stuff it in the himi for a year or more to age a little. I've been drawn to try a Cuban Cohiba but I have be told they are not as consistant or as good as they used to be since they started to try and keep up with demand in the last 10-15yrs. Told there are better tasting and consistant Cubans for less money than many of the Cohibas.

This was the Monte I tried, it was a non Cuban but pricy for non cuban at about $18. The one I tried had a pretty dominant cedar and earthy wood taste than the other flavors.

My first was a Monte #2. That day will stay with me for a long time.

The hoyo de Monterrey epicure # 2 seems a good choice. Maybe montecristo petit Edmundo too?

A good idea might be to email Rob and ask him to put together a sampler of what's smoking great right now for you?

Done,

I think I would like to try a Montecriston #2 as I have heard from many it is kind of a must have cigar in any humidor. Any others?

My 1st was a Cohiba Siglo IV.. Still one of the best boxes I've ever had

How long ago? Were they fairly consistant with each other?

No harm in trying them, people either love them or hate them. The petit Edmundo I've found to be more approachable.

No prob :) the most fun you can have in this hobby is the search for your favourite cigars so don't rush it just enjoy the journey because after about 5 years you'll realise that the search doesn't really ever end!! :D
