What's the ratio of shitload to buttload?

The whole du line was available in Havana last November (Du Roi, Deputes, Gourmets, Dauphins etc) with 2013 Box codes.....

Du Dauphin? You must make a confusion, these were discontinued 10 years ago and I've never seen or heard about post 2003 box codes… Or was it in the streets of Havana? lol3.gif

Perhaps you need to fly there yourself to see instead of barbed comments. I don't care for the marca however thought I would share. Whet here or not they are available outside of Cuba remains to be seen. There was rationale as to why they are starting to be released for the short term however, no need to share more.

One doesn't need to be "there" to understand how they work. The Du Dauphin were discontinued because they didn't sell. Producing them today doesn't make sense. If there are boxes stamped 2013 I guess they are old production revised and maybe re-packaged; aren't they selling unsold stock as "vintage" or "aged" selection, with an extra band?

No. They are new production.... Not vintage or aged. Would have picked up some for people if that was the case

Wow I need new glasses lookaround.gif

However I find surprising that they rolled a new batch of a cigar that was …problematic… or, people at Cubatabaco started to read cigar forums? surprised.giflaugh.png

Think they'd get a shock?? lookaround.giflol3.gif But one would think it wouldn't be a bad idea to get to know the thoughts and feelings of your most enthusiastic customers.. ie, ones who spend hours on forums talking about cigars! thinking.gif

keep in mind they rolled out good quantities of LGC MO 4 last year ...and that has always been problematic for them. They also rolled out some LGC MO2 which was surprising.

it is always hard to read the minds of HSA. They play their cards close to their chest.

They had a winner with the Infantes. It just might be the case that they are actually doing what was recommended here and elsewhere over the years. Roll out small batches of historically "difficult" stock every year or other year of cigars as opposed to discontinuing them completely and tell no one about it.

Didn't realize they were even playing a hand. lifepreserver.gif No rhyme no reason usually

From what I understand, there will be a lot of skinnies rolled in the short term and released in Cuba. Not sure if they will be released outside the island......

I'm not sure if that's better or worse? lol It's almost teasing us..

I suppose at least some focus on them is better than non...

You never know with Cuba. 2 years ago, there was plenty ERDM and QdO. This year, nothing in all of Havana and then the Du series were in stock as well as LGC no. 3s. Never rhyme or reason...

I was therespotlight.gif both times.

I cosign there were a lot of the Hoyo Du series all over town. 2013 stamped. Last year was EDRM and QdO. We missed out on some older boxes because we waited too long... There was a good stock of QdO Panatela(none of these after we went through tho...), Imperiales, Coronas.

happy 4k post, maverick!

but on a side note, do you know what the deal is with the Du Rois as well? OR are they gonna stay gone? honestly, Hoyo Du Dauphins are worth checking out next time i'm in cuba. guess i'll save the 20 a stick for the Rois instead if that's the case!

Maybe part of a plan to boost cigar tourism on the island, and if people are going to come for special cigars they will be spending money in hotels and food, transport etc. It all brings coin for the coffers.

Fingers crossed its a sign of small batch runs of classic but not big selling stock.

Dip 7 next summer? :D

Du rois were available as well. The whole line was available....

really now? ; what happened in years 03 - 10 then? were dauphins still available then as well?

Dip 7 next summer? biggrin.png

Maybe some LGC1s, Punch SSs and Ninfas, Dippy 1s, RA 898 (and not just German REs!)

For a lot of you this may not be loading up but nevertheless this is my latest acquisition. peace.gif

I don't understand why this is so discombobulating for you or why the cynicism and sarcasm.

I FULLY realize that pretty much whole line has been discontinued for awhile. Everyone on our annual trip to the friends of Partagas festival were surprised to see them on the shelves.

So let's put this to bed.

The whole Hoyo Du series was available in 25 and 50 count cabinets in November in a number of LCDHs in Havana. Specifically at the Partagas store, all the vitolas (Du roi, gourmets, depute, etc) were 2013 box codes with the exception of 1 cabinet of 25 which one person on the trip purchased for his girlfriend, the reason I can say this is that I went through the entire stock when I was there, trying to help him find an aged box.

They could have been rolled specifically for the friends of Partagas festival attendees however, I doubt is as there was no second band or any fanfare behind it.

Those who travel to Havana know that there are always treasures to be found if you look in the right places. For instance, I found a great box of 2003 bolivar coronas. Last year, our group had a shot at buying 2 50 cabs of punch SS1s. I still regret not buying them.

LGC no 3s were also available. The only aged box in quantity at the Partagas store was SLR churchills in 50 cabs.

Whether or not the Hoyo Du series will be available outside of Cuba remains to be seen. Maybe ask Rob to see if they are available for order.

If you still need confirmation of this (outside of Strada chiming in) then I suggest booking a flight to Havana or giving a call to the Partagas store.

Some nong in HSA may have worked out that with many countries pricing tobacco on weight, the skinnies are coming into their own thinking.gif
