Prediction: these will be a monumental flop due to the fact that most experienced smokers could care less that Jay-Z is endorsing a cigar and most people that do care that he is endorsing it aren't smoking $30 sticks.

Prediction #2: This will be available online for $39.99 per box with the next 2 years; advertisements will include an insane 5 paragraph product description about the 500 different flavor nuances this ''amazing cigar'' has.

With technology delivering music to every household in multiple media formats there are exponentially more ways a person would be exposed to Jay-Z music as opposed to Elvis or The Beatles. Jay-Z selling more records than people 50 years ago is a pointless argument.

If Jay-Z knew ANYTHING about cigars, he would not be putting his name on a NC Cohiba.

Agreed on both points.

Come on everyone! I'm sure they are much better cigars than the Dunhill Cabinetta he says he used to smoket! And way cheaper ! ! LOL.

I'll bet dollars to doughnuts that their target market isn't experienced or knowledgeable cigar smokers.

On the cigar

Have I too much pride to BUY those rediculous barber pole, football shaped, stupidly named cigars that are trotted out year after year for the American market? Hell yeah! Some of the monstrosities that pass for cigars over there are laughable. If somebody hands me one and asks me for my thoughts? Yeah I will smoke one, and give you my thoughts exactly, who knows how i might find it (previous experience precludes optimism).

But Tatauje goblin monster with an that Uzi weighs a ton holding my fathers ballsack family reserve black label? Please....

I have no keen interest in the cigar whatsoever, to me it's no different than than the majority of the NC market in the way it's predictably marketed to the american people - brash, Unclassy and tasteless... Marketing and product in perfect symphony. but I wouldn't be averse to trying one. Why the hell not? What's the worst that can happen?

But I can't hate a man so vehemently like some of you people for wanting to do it, the same way I can't hate those for making cigars named after fictional monsters... If thats your thing and your passionate about then more power to you. Don't let me stand in your way.

If I can get hold of a single, consider me the guinea pig and I will smoke and write a concise and honest review, again I'm not expecting any epiphanies.

In closing, some of the comments made here today veered way off the track into jay zs credibility as a performing artist and as a person, I'm here to defend neither as I don't need or want to.

But seeing those trying to discredit this personal and frankly passionate endeavour of his because they don't like his music or his life story or lifestyle for that matter is disappointing.

Live and let live is what I say.

Internet high five mate!

nb:- I have already reached my like quota of positive votes for the day, so I have opted to quote your post and supply positive reinforcement for rounding out the debate in a classy and timely fashion. ;-)

You had me at "my fathers ballsack".......quite possibly the funniest thing I've read in a while.

Agreed 100% on the live and let live.

He sells a lifestyle of excess and opulence to people who can barely afford rent and these cigars are nothing different. Listen to some of his old music.

I was going to allude to this in my earlier post but decided to cut it short. Since you brought it up, this is the thing that i hate about modern rap which is garbage. All of them glorify materialism and consumerism to the demographic who cannot afford it which happens to be their main audience and its bothersome to me it is a mere reallocation of wealth amongst their people. All of these aspiring rappers everywhere cluelessly buying cheap champagne and wearing what the rappers promote all to symbolize and glorify that image of pimping and hustling instead of educating. It is pretty despicable, if you want real hip hop you need to listen to underground.

He enjoys his cigar so he has something in common with me. That's normally a good conversation starter for meeting anyone on this forum. I'd shake his hand, don't know him personally so its the best way to find out.

I'd smoke one, although thats not much of a recomendation, as I'm always happy to try anything new, regardless of who's pushing it.

I've never smoked a Red Dot Cohiba that I've liked, but I do have friends who enjoy them.

If I come across one in my travels I'll grab one a review it.

Maybe I'll throw the Black Album on and put my feet up with a glass of Krystal, contemplating all of the 99 problems I have...

The tone of this thread is a bit of a surprise to me. Kind of a shame to see some of the vitriol.

Thought we kept it a little classier around here.

I can assure you I never intended it as a slanging match or put down against the man. As I said at the opening, I love the entrepreneurial aspect.

just a cigar story I came across and posted. Not everything is a Pinata people!

I guess I'm lucky, I don't have an enemy worth spitting on, certainly not someone i only know through tv, internet, radio.
