Lol. I never have been too great at following instructions.

"A proud lineage albeit not too old"? That must be the Vegueros Especiales No.1, 1997

In 1989 Zino Davidoff publicly burned over one hundred thousand Davidoff cigars that he had deemed of low quality and unfit to sell. You see….things have changed little !LOL!

Zino Davidoff under agreement with Cubatabaco ceased sale of Cuban Davidoff in ….1992.

It has always been widely rumoured that the Cohíba Línea 1492 (launched in 1992) was made to replace Davidoff.

The Cohiba Siglo VI launched in 2002 and while I have not ever had a 2002 version, the 2003 Cohiba Siglo VI were magnificent and remain today one of the most highly sought after collectors boxes of the last 10 years. Popularity of the Siglo VI has held firm since launch albeit quality has been a crap shoot. Yet the POU and BTO batches of Cohiba Siglo VI in 2013 reminded me very much of the original 2003 boxes I had tried. Let’s hope 2014 continues that recent trend.

WOO HOO!!! spotlight.gifparty.gif

Thanks Rob, for doing this, for the free cigar (which one to choose?) and for everything related to this forum in general.

Here was my reasoning behind my guess:

"I was conceived as part of a proud lineage albeit that lineage is not too old.

ROBO >>> The word 'lineage', for me, was a dead giveaway that this cigar was from one of Cohiba's Linea ranges. The 'not too old' lead me to believe that it was from the Linea 1492 and not the Linea Classica.

"Rumours abound that my house was borne as a result of duplicitous intrigue."

ROBO >>> The word 'house' led me to believe again that this was a Cohiba, a quote from F. Castro: "Then we set up the house [the El Laguito factory], and he explained the blend of tobacco he used." I also thought that the 'duplicitous' was a reference to this: "The production of special cigars for top officials under conditions of tight security was given extra impetus by fears of ongoing CIA assassination efforts against Fidel". I got lucky here...

"Flame goes hand in hand with our birth."

ROBO >>> No idea.

"My first release (birth) legendary and still one of the most highly sought after cigars in the world today by collectors and yet i have always remained popular since."

ROBO >>> Having narrowed it down to the Linea 1492, it then had to be the Siglo VI. I know that the initial release (I thought 2003) is highly sought after, and it is arguably the most popular from the linea now. After checking Trevor's website, I settled with 2002 Cohiba Siglo VI.
