El Presidente Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 I was reading this article in the local rag on the weekend and had a laugh at this: There was no explanation as to why this trend occurred but commentators were quick to offer suggestions. 'Very simple reason: Marriage makes a guy depressed,' one man wrote. Before you ask...there was no explanation for Ken.
superconductor71 Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 ~hides this from the wife~ Not sure if it's depressed, or just resigned.....lol
Duxnutz Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 The "freshman 20" is quite an accepted fact. When your in a healthy, loving relationship you both gain some weight. I talked to a guy who is literally terrified of his wife and barely eats!
Squarehead Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 I don't know what those guys are doing but my wife and I are married for almost 48 years without regrets.
anacostiakat Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 I'm surprised it's only 20% more likely. Seems low to me as well. . .
orangedog Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 Where was the quote... Edinburgh comedy festival...? "I only have to look better than single parentdom."

stillinger Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 Not sure what my issue is, not married and I'm still a fatass Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
srbbones Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 It fits with the trend toward larger ring guages
SCgarman Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 Rob, did marriage make you depressed? If too personal feel free not to answer. I have been married for almost 13 years. Does it have it's ups and downs? Hell yes! But I would rather have a life partner to be by my side than single. And my 7 year old daughter will be better off for having a married mother and father in her life. Heck, I'm the stay home parent and my wife goes and makes the money. I couldn't ask for better!
Duxnutz Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 It fits with the trend toward larger ring guages Lol. Gonna use this!
Orion21 Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 Its because so many married men sit on their rears to provide for their families. Those who exercise won't gain or gain as much. Those that don't will pack on the pounds.
Mr.T Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 I'm also surprised it's only 20%. I would agree with their basic assumptions. I've seen it happen with friends over time. Any chance I get to go out and exercise even in the frigid Minnesota winters I take it, but between work and family it's hard......Too bad stress can't cause weight loss....
KoreanCowboy Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 I wouldn't categorize it as depressed, but rather no longer having the thrill of the hunt. I've gained 50 lbs. in 5 years of marriage and I'm pretty certain it's because I really no longer have that motivation to impress. When I was single I worked out like crazy but always had a woman in mind that I wanted to impress. Guess maybe I'm just looking at marriage in the wrong way...?
Zigatoh Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 And yet married men still live longer, what gives?
TheCoach Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 At 6'5 350, i can't afford to get married...
JHands Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 Pack on the lbs boys. A wise man once told me when you get older you learn how to f_ck with your face and fight with your feet - makes things simpler.
Bolismoker Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 At 6'5 350, i can't afford to get married... Hilarious!
