CanuckSARTech Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 Jason / refresh, One thing I've always enjoyed about this forum, and the forum software therefore, is certain icons. Especially, when you're looking through the forums, it shows the thread titles in bold if there's been a new post since you last viewed it. But, there also used to be icons to the left of the thread titles. Where you could click on them to bring you to the "last viewed" post, rather than to start from the top of a page. I've been away for about two months now, and I'm not sure if there's been another software update / upgrade, but those are gone for me. It shows the titles in bold, but those changing icons to the far left of each thread title are gone. Can this be fixed? Something on my end, or the forum's end? 1
dpodiluk Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 I'm missing it too. I think they "upgraded" the forum software and looks like that little unread icon bit the dust... I too hope it makes its way back.
Trevor2118 Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 actually if you switch to red theme they are there......however all the normally black text shows up red.....This has been reported for a fix.

Noted. I believe this happened as well when the the forum was initially upgraded. I myself am not a big fan of the red theme (hurts my eyes), so having it only available on that theme is kinda sucky. Fingers crossed for a quick and easy fix. I miss my icons....
Hiroshiro Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 actually if you switch to red theme they are there......however all the normally black text shows up red.....This has been reported for a fix. O hey it works but My Text is Black. no problem here
buster Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 Thanks for posting this, been meaning to ask the same question. Hitting that "dot" icon to the left of the thread subject to go to my first unread post in the thread is a valuable tool. Switching to red does bring the icon back. Also not a red fan, but not as bad as I expected. All post text are still in black. Just the thread subject header and the member names are in red. Also the shoutbox member names, as well as the forum titles on the main forum page (that's a little too red, but I can deal until there hopefully is a fix). Thanks for the heads-up on the temporary fix. Rick
Trevor2118 Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 O hey it works but My Text is Black. no problem here In a thread, the text is black, but when I go to the "View New Content" page, the headings and icons are red.
ckearns Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Keith, thanks for bringing this up and thanks to Trevor for suggesting a workaround. I lost this function some time ago and it was driving me crazy not to have as I find it a very useful feature.
GernBlansten Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 Jeeez! Wish I would have read this thread a month ago! Thanks for the workaround, Trevor!
CanuckSARTech Posted March 6, 2014 Author Posted March 6, 2014 Jason / refresh, Any word on a fix? Trevor has posted a workaround, but my eyes just don't like the look of the red theme, and I'm wondering if this feature can't be reinstated with all themes again??
ayepatz Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 There's no need to change themes. If you click on the time under the latest poster to the right of the title, it will take you to the most recent post on any thread.

If you click on the time under the latest poster to the right of the title, it will take you to the most recent post on any thread. That's different. That brings you to the most recent post. It's not necessarily the last post since one last visited that thread, which is what the icon we're discussing is for. Thanks though. Good tip nonetheless.
ayepatz Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 My bad, sorry. I used to moderate on a motorbike forum where we had the "last viewed post" button, but, only having joined FoH recently, I just figured it wasn't used here. Useful feature.
buster Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 Change the theme to FOH Black and let me know if the problem persists. We've just run a forum software upgrade and the post icons have all been reset to their default settings. I'll customise them again once higher priority upgrade issues have been resolved. FYI, the last-viewed post icons are now there in the red and black themes, but not in the green... no biggie for me, I never use green, but I'm sure it's supposed to work for green as well One other interesting thing that seems to be a new glitch.... when I click on the icon, it does bring me to the first un-read post in the thread, but if I use the back button on my browser, the icon is still there (it should be gone, as used to be when I went back this way). It does go away if I refresh or return to the page later, so no real biggie, but I'm sure it's a glitch. Also, the "quote previous post" doesn't seem to keep the quote in the shaded box, as you can see here and in the previous post. Rick
buster Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 The back button is behaving as it should. The icon will only disappear on a page reload. Hitting back doesn't do that, so it's expected behaviour. We've got some other minor issues at play that I'm working my way through, but a browser refresh should reset the quote box colours. Makes sense, but it used to disappear previously when I used the back button, so I figured I'd let you know. The quote box colors seem to working fine now. Thanks, Rick

Seems to be working right / good again. Thanks as always, Jason!
