Armaniac Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 Gotta love it when the stickers are still in the box. Kijiji!
b4z00k4 Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 One would think that if the fakes are not safe to smoke or had paint chips in them some times as others have mentioned, that resorts and cruise ships would not allow this out of liability for safety alone not to mention fraud. How would cruise ships be liable? They tell you upfront that if you're going into town to shop, to be extremely careful and scrutinize everything unless you're buying from one of the stores on the list they give you. At least that's how it was when I went 2 years ago. Resorts are a different story all together, though. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk

The thing is they can't control what you do or don't buy. I've heard of cruise ships warning people about fake merchandise but they can't stop anyone from buying it whether it be cigars, or anything else. I've never seen a resort do this, at least ones I've stayed in, but some may attempt to warn/educate their guests but ultimately it is caveat emptor.
Rye Posted February 17, 2014 Author Posted February 17, 2014 The best fakes I have ever seen I have a good friend with a similar box of Fohiba robustos that besides the lack of stickers and stamp on the box, could easily pass as real. At a gathering he hosted, he passed out a few for us to try, and they were delicious! Not at all tasting of Cohiba, but more akin to a really rich Hoyo epi2, and that was a shared concensus among all of us. I tried to make a deal to get the remaining sticks, as I loved the profile, but could only manage to trade for a couple more. That same night, we dissected one to ensure the contents, and they were beautifully constructed, long filler, quality tobacco. That being said, with the complete lack of controls guaranteeing a similar box, I would never go out and willingly purchase fake boxes, as we've dissected others and found things like hair, binder twine, wood, and strange leaves of non-tobacco origins. The next fake I get, I will photograph a dissection and try to show some of the crap in the bad ones.
Skyfall Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 These showed up on Dallas Cragslist yesterday "A friend just brought these back.....blah blah blah."
Rye Posted February 19, 2014 Author Posted February 19, 2014 Something fishy going on with this one...
helix Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 Not at all it's just that it was purchased in St Maarten's. I suspect the checkers are to small. No such LE in 2005?
ramon_cojones Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 besides the apparent dubious quality and poor alignment of squares there was no EL in 2005...you need to use this as your bible www.cubancigarwebsite.com 1
helix Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 I was sure they were fakes.MC#4 fakes involved also. I have to tactfully let someone know they have been buying fakes for some time now .
MikeG Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 "I dont always smoke cigars, but when I do I put up photos of my faux habano"
MikeG Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 If you know anything about cigars you better get these puppies while their still in stock!
Bclass1 Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 If you know anything about cigars you better get these puppies while their still in stock! People like this.. And the "sorry son, this came directly from Cuba".. They deserve to be told whether their cigars are fake or not, without question.. 1
Rye Posted February 20, 2014 Author Posted February 20, 2014 If you know anything about cigars you better get these puppies while their still in stock! This guy is flogging this crap for $20/stick.

shlomo Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 Definitely someone here as i saw him hashtag #fohiba not neccesarily. fohiba has been a fairly common term for as long as i have been into cigars. it is not original to foh. 1
