Natedog Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 So my wife bless her heart!!!! Grabbed a cigar that was partially smoked and through it in my tupperdor in case I wanted to smoke the rest of it at some other time ( she didn't want it to dry out). It was in there for a cpl hrs. Now my tupperdor stinks like...well,you know. What can I do to eliminate that faul odor from my cigars and tupperdor?
Puros Y Vino Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 That sucks. Tupperdor? Either wash the hell out of it, or get another. The cigars? I guess some air time is the best chance. Once the smell clears you'll have to slowly rehydrate them. You could also try rolling each cigar in newspaper. Newspapers tend to remove odors from things. Such as shoes. Wait for a few more posts to get further suggestions. I haven't had this happen to me so I can only speculate. Cold temps tend to dissipate odors as well. I'm going to post a rundown of what I'd do. By no means do you have to do it. Air out the cigars ( a day or two) Roll each stick in a sheet of newspaper Put each stick in a double ziploc freezer bag. Put the package in the fridge for 1 day. Move the package to the freezer for 2 days. Move the package back to the fridge for 1 day. Take package out. Inspect the contents. Remove the newspaper wraps. Take a whiff. If the smell persists. Repeat with new sheets. Should the smell be gone altogether. Re-introduce to your humidor. Give them 4-6 months to "rehab". My 2c
poorman Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 Can't help with the cigars. As far as the humidor... If you insist on using the same tupperdor: Wash it thourougly, several times. Place a full box of baking soda inside, close the lid, let it sit for a day or two. I would empty the box of baking soda into a bowl rather than leaving it in its original box. Repeat as necessary to remove the odor.
CaptainQuintero Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 People smoke in walk ins a lot, it will go with time Personally I'd avoid damaging your cigars by messing about with freezers and humidity etc. At worst one or two cigars (If they were in contact with the half smoked stogie) might have a bit of a tainted smell so smoke them over the next day or so and see if you can taste any difference.
Fuzz Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 Wash the tupperdor with baking soda and white vinegar, then rinse and air dry outdoors. If it has removeable rubber seals, give them a rinse too. As for the cigars, do nothing drastic. Just air them a bit and they should be okay.
melies Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 throw the tupperdor to the garbage, they are really cheap to replace...
