Love a good DC when time and weather permits. I love passing the time with a good DC, a coffee and book. So I typically only smoke them in the summer months.

It's been at least 6 months, probably closer to a year. With 2 small boys I'm lucking to get in anything larger than a PC.

I am in the same boat... I would be up past midnight

When is the last time that you had a Double Corona?

My last DC was a Punch DC just over a month ago. Before that a Lusi and a VR DA the month prior.

Now I love the quality of current Double Corona's but I just dont have the time to do them justice. It is always in the back of my mind that the DC is falling victim to time limitations of the modern world.

Back in the 70's I well recall that few people in Oz who were in business for themselves really worked past lunchtime. It was off to the pup or club with mates for a long lunch, copious amounts of booze, a cigar and then hop in the car to head home lookaround.gif

To my mind the Double Corona is the cigar version of the Lung Fish. Still survives but is an evolutionary throwback to times long gone.

a glorious old SLR DC about two weeks ago. don't think i have had a smoke since then. unless for our videos, which i expect ill go up next year.

I usually smoke about 3 or 4 a month. Never understood how so many are too busy to take time for themselves.

I love the DC format, always have. Making time for them is another matter, but that's exactly it - I make the time for them, because they can be fantastically underrated cigars if you give 'em the time required. Understanding that not everyone can do that... (and quite frankly, these last few months, I've barely been able to make time for a Corona!)

My last one about a week ago was again, a Punch DC from some of those Cracker HQ's that Rob dug up a little while ago. They are worth every penny, I wish I could go deeper on them than I did!

I'll say this - a 50 Cab of Punch DC's is on my "to buy" list....but it'll be there for some time, I wager, given the cost of a cab of DC's LOL!

For me it's the one from the blind tasting competition, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Like others have said, time constraints are the main reason for me not to buy/smoke these regularly. A round of golf always seems to be the best time for me to enjoy a DC / Churchill as it is one of the very few ways to get that amount of time without interruption.

Huh, well that's embarrassing lol. I thought the 898 was a DC... .

you are not alone others have been corrected on this as well. The Lusi is just a big brother to 898. No need to be embarrassed I am sure we can all relate to a similar slip up when it comes to cigars.

A luci two weeks ago. Prefer SLR dc and RAG though. Have one a month or so - or an ocassional Monte a. Not often, but Love the long break a dc gives in a busy life. Best vitola next to the pc imo

Last one for me was probably the last SLR group tasting cigar. I guess for me they still have their place, but I think it's more than just having the time, it's having the interest. I think they might be easier to smoke in the scenario offered - group of friends together - or similar, watching a sporting event, etc, versus simply sitting alone for a couple of hours with noithing else but the cigar.

Then again, I think perhaps almost any quality cigar these days is an indulgence......

Just a week ago an RA Gigantes, fresh May 12, excellent color, smell, and it delivered in spades!

I try to sample a DC per month.

:lol3: I still love them. I had one over the weekend. I also had a custom churchill over the weekend. There was a time when I felt most of them had really lost their oomph and I cut back. I also like CE's and dalias as they seem to off the best in blending for me along with the smaller formats. I am not smoking anywhere near what I have been in the past but I can smoke indoors.

But I have had very good louck with the Punch DC's and some of the older DC's that I have in the humi. Runs the gamut from RAG's, Punch DC's Don Alejandros, etc.

Smoked a '06 Lusi from a cabinet a few days ago. What an amazing experience. Had to be the saltiest smoke I ever had. Huge mounds of rich smoke. This cigar was still mighty full bodied and strong too. And it is some 7 years old. Mighty fine.

Love DCs and smoke a couple a month. Making the time to smoke a Lusi or a BG while watching a game, tailgating or just hanging out with friends at the local B&M is always worth it.

I know I have smoked one or two but cannot remember when. Time is not an issue for me although right now weather is. I considered buying a box on your last sale but a couple of things stopped me.

The taste was pretty much an unknown for me and a box was too much to try something new.

I checked a few reviews and no one said OMG what a great cigar.

Honestly I have had more issues with longer Cuban cigars than others.

I like to speculate that I will have more free time when I am older so DC purchases now become cigars for aging and enjoying "in the future". Every one I sneak in now is a small victory. I have stretches of free time when I will mow through churchills and DCs... but like all cigars my smoking is behind my purchasing... In that spectrum DCs fall at the further end.
