I had an email from the local LCDH that there will be a cuban roller there this week. I went with a friend and there was a nice cuban lady rolling cigars for the customers. We sat for a drink while she was making the cigars. The cigars were compliment from the store. I asked if it's going to be to much if I wanted another one, but different vitola. The girl that works at the store said they are not for sale but if I want more i have to tip the roller. I asked how much should i tip and she said 10BGN each(around 7USD). I asked for 3 more and I "tipped" her.

So my question is:

Are those cigars worth buying at that price as I don't know the quality of the tobacco?!

I know many of you have smoked and purchased cigars that way and I would like to know your opinion and advice.

If you ever have a chance to buy any customs rolled w Cuban tobacco, go for it, you have nothing to lose IMHO at those prices, I have had some good luck w some customs from Canada, Europe, etc w lesser known rollers but the tobacco as great

At the end of the day, its all about the materials they are rolling with not so much the roller to a certain degree

Nice pick ups

There is only one way to know it mate... Smoke them! or send us some to smoke them for you lol :D

Custom cigars can be hit and miss. I have tried them from some vendors and loved some hated some. Even in Cuba I had some Reynaldo robustos and corona gorda that were horrible! (others were great).

The Fun is in the search :)

I have no idea about the roller. She doesn't speak english and nobody in the store speak Spanish(they were communicating through pictures). She doesn't have any moulds and she was rolling them as they come. Actually, she was very good from what I've seen. you just give her the cigar you want and she makes it the exact same vitola, and I mean perfectly the same. I know that i should smoke them right away or leave them for at least 3-4 months.

Not exactly best grade wrappers…

I don't get it: you were IN the shop, you bought the cigars, and now you're asking us if they're worth the cash? Why haven't you smoked one to get an idea of the quality?

No, the wrappers i saw are not that great. I am asking if If I should get more of them at that price. I have no experience with custom made and fresh rolled cubans. I don't have any time today for a smoke(there is no in door smoking lounge in the LCDH). I don't think I am an expert and i have no idea what they will become in time.

Oh, I see. Well, IMHO, you shoudn't buy more than a handful of a custom roll that you can't try. As Melies wrote above, customs can be hit and miss, they can be terrible (very green, vegetal) or simply boring…

real cheap for custom rolled, in LCDH Bangkok you have to pay at least 50 USD for size of Robusto or even 80 USD for size of Behike 56.

Really? wow

Thanks for the replies guys. I will probably ask for another 10 cigars(churchill or corona gorda). You are right that for that price I can't go wrong even if they are just decent.

That's a solid plan! I'd definitely grab at least 10 sticks at that price. 5 to smoke now and the other 5 to age and see what they become in a few years.
