El Presidente Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 Like any other blind tasting...it is bloody hard Still a number of you (Sharks, kam etal) managed to get ti right...congrats Consistently the response has been that Cigar Number 5 was the best of the 5 blind tasting cigars. I think many of you were thrown off the scent that it was also a marque that we had previously sampled in this blind tasting Cigar Number 5 is a damn elegant Double Corona that to me delivers everything that is good about the marque. Medium bodied, coffee cream, some dark cooking chocolate notes past the half way mark. it is a cigar that is not spoken much about, a cigar that is right up there for me in terms of quality with the the best of the large format cigars such as the Sir Winston. Welcome to the Vegas Robaina Don Alejandro OLR DIC 12 I won't go through the entire spreadsheet exercise as we only had one winner of the comp who remarkably guessed 3 of the 5 cigars correctly Congratulations Amos (Famous). A great effort mate . Contact me direct for your prize. Thank you to all participants as well as the help that Lisa and Di gave me to get this rather large exercise off the ground! As always it is great fun i have some great boxes of VRDA available. If you are keen, e-mail me or PM me and I will quote you a price. Cheers! El Pres
jpastin Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 Hah! You are absolutely right, that was on my list but crossed off because we already had a VR. Tricky tricky tricky! Congrats to Famous on the win!
Fuzz Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 Congrats Amos! Well done!! I nearly picked the VR, but thought, "Nah, he wouldn't put in the same marque twice..."
Stanislaw Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 Congrats Amos! that was a blast, thanks for making it so Prez and look forward to the next one!
REASON Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 congrats Famous! was following this and sorry I didn't get in on it. Next time.
Dimmers Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 Congrats to Amos, what a fantastic effort! Many thanks to Rob, Di and Lisa, great comp! I loved the VRDA, my fav of the bunch and not one i had tried previously. Yet another to add to my sample again/ maybe buy list.
Rye Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 Congrats to the winner, and huge thanks to our hosts! This was a pleasant and fun experience. It seems I've left myself TONS of room for improvement for next time!!
AndrewNR Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 Congratulations man Stellar effort :-D Thank you Rob and everyone else involved in getting this together and running too, It's a great and interesting thing to have the opportunity to participate in. Although my efforts were a little tapered and hopeless I still thoroughly enjoyed it. I just got a little confused and then too busy about half way in. Next year I'll be back in it!
amosnaim Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 Just landed in New York to see this! Wow. Thank you Rob, Di and Lisa for arranging this. It was a great fun and amazing experience. Looking forward to next year competition... Cheers all, Amos
Tino Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 Congratulations to Famous! Thanks to Rob for not publishing the spread sheet and sparing my 0/5 blushes... I thought the Don Alejandro was terrific, even if I didn't have a clue what it was!
laficion Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 Well done gents , Thank you for sharing with us this fantastic last round. Congrations to Famous.
zmancbr Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 Wow this one completely shocks me. Not because it was the second VR of the contest, but because I just didn't pick up any of that usual coffee flavor I get from VRs. It must've been so subtle I didn't notice. Guess I will have to pay better attention next time! Still I'm very happy with 2/5. Congrats to famous! It is definitely quite a feat to pull 3 of these out. Good work.
Hafner32 Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 Well Done Famous! Thanks to the entire Czar crew for a great competition!
Smallclub Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 Congratulation Amos. Even with solid knowledge and experience, this game is always tricky!
Othello Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Congratulations, Amos! Enjoy the prize! You've earned it. Thanks to FOH for a great learning experience!
vondegroot Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 Congrats! That sure was a blast - I'll be game next time for sure!
