OK, at the risk of REALLY putting myself out there…

When on a walkabout this weekend through the snow and 20 degree F(-6 C) cold, I was reminded of a sick period that I encountered a couple of years back, a sick period of a different sort. I was really jonesin’ for a cigar and wanted to get a good walk in as well, so a took along a trusted PSD4. I was quite the optimist concerning the walk, figured I could smoke the D4 over about 3 miles, and started off on my hike.

I don’t know if it was the bitter cold, the hike back UP hill, or a quite elevated cardio rate, but about a half mile before I made it home I thought I was going to hurl! I had to tromp what was left of the D4(grrrrr), sloooow way down(nye on crawl), and then lay down for an hour after I got home!

After that episode, I learned well to respect the power of a Habanos!

Any others brave enough to voice a similar incident?

I think because of your increased heart rate, your body absorbed a higher level of nicotine and distributed it at a faster rate than you were used to, giving you a slight case of nicotine poisoning.

Freefall. Man I had a similar experience one of the first times I smoked a PSD4. Long story short, had nada to eat all day, drank a ton of booze and smoked a D4 mid-day. Stood up and it felt like I was upside down. Spins really bad. I ended up passing out in our walk in closet in the bedroom. 2 hours later the wifey found me. She thought I was dead. Took one hell of a cold shower.

Nothing exactly similar, but mixing a brisk hike with smoking, and then throw in some

cold air - I can see why you might have felt a bit sick!

I've learned I don't enjoy warm cigar smoke and cold, dry air.

:rotfl: Hope she didn't say anything about life insurance policies before she realised you were still alive.

My story took place around this time last year. I'd had a bit of breakfast, but I guess I'd forgotten to eat for the rest of the day, and so I went out that night on a completely empty stomach. I was supposed to go to the fish markets with my uncle at 3am to get some prawns and other stuff for christmas lunch (so I guess it must have been around the 23rd). I had around 7/8 beers and then a cigar... well suddenly things started to happen. I was vomiting in the guys back yard for the next hour, and when I had to bail, his mum (a real champ) watched and laughed as I emptied my stomach over her balcony, then stumbled down the stairs, before vomiting again on the lawn behind the front gate, while my dad was parked just out the front. The car trip home wasn't too pleasant either, having to swallow whatever came up into my mouth. How I managed to keep it all in, I don't know. It was probably the longest 20 minutes of my life. Once home I made straight for the bathroom where I lay hunched over the porcelain bus for the next two hours. I didn't make it to the fish markets that morning. Somehow I managed to explain it away to my mum (she hates overdrinking - thinks 3 beers is enough :-| ) as an attack of food poisoning brought on by undercooked sausages I ate :lookaround:

Aw man, I'm with Bunker, I think you’re the big winner here Cigarhead… come to think, I’d not yet eaten much either before that D4… ack, makes my head spin just thinking about it!

My name is El Prez and I..........have had to put a cigar down because I was feeling ill :lookaround:

It has happened only twice and both times it has happened in the past month and both times it was a Partagas Serie De Connoisseur No 3.

Lack of food was common both times and I had a wine but no more than two glasses. The feeling of clamminess and "violent forward liquid propulsion" came over me but dissipated with a glass of water and a 15 minute break.

Strong suckers those little Connie 3's and not one on an empty stomach. I have had a dozen since and the situation has not been replicated....I keep going back however....they call me like a bad woman.

***note to family members who read this board. I resist the bad woman call effortlessly. The Connie 3 call is in reality completely different :lookaround: ***

Fortunately, the worst for me was a feeling of lightheadedness and slight nausea after a BBF and a few servings of Woodford Reserve. Just can't be sure whether is was the cigar or the bourbon.
