Your two "go-to" cigars....dependent on weather

I often describe cigar selection akin to selecting a golf club for a shot.....you pick the club that best suits the situation.

So as we are travesing climate extremes .....cold up north....hot down below...what is your ideal cigar choice for the following situations:

1. Bloody Cold

Damn cold but you have a spot that is workable (you are not going to freeze!). Fine drink to accompany the cigar...it has been snowing for days.

2. Bloody Hot

Around the pool or at the beach/camping with mates. Cold beers aplenty but the constant drip of persoiration in noticeable.

Pick your two cigars given the different situations.

cold- H Upmann Coranas Major, flavors go nice w/ an Irish coffee.

hot- HdM Epi 1, light body w/ citrus flavor.

Cold - Party Short - quick, packs a punch, leathery, creamy, touch of spice, best size to flavor ratio.

Hot - QDO Corona - light, creamy, easy, accompanies many kinds of cocktails, clean and tasty.

I don't do "bloody cold", so I have no favorite. For "bloody hot", any SLR will do. Sweet beats hot every time.....

Cold weather: Cohiba Secretos or Mag 48

Warm/Hot weather: Anything with a ring gauge of 50+ Just love the Monte 520's and the Partagas Series E No2, HDM DC, Siglo VI.

This is a tough one to answer. If it was really cold outside I would probably reach for something like a Bolivar Petit Corona, or a Petit Edmundo. Pair it up with a little bourbon.

Hot day, along with the ice cold beers mentioned, a Fonseca No 1, or a Cohiba Lancero. I prefer smoking in the heat as opposed to the cold. I remember smoking a Party Lusy outside in the winter in Japan. I was numb by the time I hit the second third.

If we are talking extremes (which we do get on the hot side in AZ) I'd go with:

Hot: Cohiba Siglo IV. I find the Siglo line to be

mild. Grassy/honey goes good with a cold beverage.

Cold: HDM Epi 2. This is a new cigar for me, but my favorite of the HDM line that I have tried. A robusto that is sweet but rich, adding warmth to the cold. It's also a robusto which gives you some quality time, but doesn't freeze you ...... off!

I like all the stronger cigars in the moderate temps.

Hot (its always hot up here)- Pretty much anything that will take more than 45 min to burn through

Cold (anything below 20 degreesC)- Monte 5, PLPC, Petit Edmundo

Hot - A Monte usually. Love all the edmundos (petit, regular and and grande). A good # 2 also

Cold - I won't sit in the cold for a cigar - so see previous answer. Then it's off to the Outlaw (my local B&M that can comfortably hold 50 to 100 smokers - 6 big screens for your sports viewing pleasure). This place is the thing that keeps me smoking NCs. I feel guilty if I always walk in and smoke my own Cubans - so I happily patronize them and keep trying new NCs.

I guess I'm lucky because all my smoking is done inside, so I choose the cigar based on the time allowable or just the mood that strikes me.

Cold; Partagas Shorts usually paired with single malt Scotch

Hot; RASS usually paired with iced coffee or a quality beer

Hot: Monte A / HDM Double Corona

Cold: Party Short with a Scotch. When it's freezing outside you don't want to grab a big cigar or one you have to hunt for the subtle flavors. Right in the face is the way to go in the winter.

Hot: SLR Serie A with a Scotch or wine. Nice size with flavors to relax with and enjoy the journey.

Cold: Boli PC or if I feel brave a Boli RC (something bold) paired with scotch

Hot: HDM Epi 2, JL#1, any Monte, heck whatever suits my mood paired with rum and coke, red wine, white wine works too.

Cold: Upmann half corona. Such a great little smoke. Hits the mark straight away.

Hot: Trinidad Fundadores. With a bit of age it's a beautiful, complex smoke to enjoy slowly.
