Ken Gargett Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 I want to make it to Sri Lanka at some point. Interesting place. Great cuisine. i know a number of people from sri lanka, worked with some and played cricket with others. all some of the loveliest people i have ever encountered. so when i spent some time in sri lanka, i was seriously stunned. i have never been anywhere that comes close to a place where i met so many seriously perverted people. in the first hour there alone, even though i was ensconced in a hotel room in a top hotel, i was still contacted by all sorts of people - from the hotel and outsiders - offering me everything from young girls, young boys, goats, dogs, elephants, combos and so on. seriously warped place, yet everyone i'd met from there gave no clue to what was coming. some of the weirdest crap i have ever had thrown at me. interesting so many named fiji. went there once. lovely people but fiji and i did not get along. the only thing i got from fiji was an article on a horror trip. las roques is definitely extremely high on the list. anywhere with tarpon. mongolia for taimen. new guinea for black bass. i missed the trip to the amazon with the guys - always was very high on my list. still keen. alaska for salmon. madagascar for the wildlife. galapagos. but i must confess, that aside from a few like that, i'd be keener to return to some of the places i loved. africa - especially back to the gorillas and kilimanjaro, india, cuba, spain, russia, trout streams in south island of nz, barrier reef.
khomeinist Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 I am guessing you chose elephant? Las Roques is certainly nice but I preferred the interior of Venezuela. The Andes are quite spectacular.
melies Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Australia, New Zealand, India, Moscow, Vietnam and St. Barth just because I want to sleep for a week over there

khomeinist Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Bonefish. Elephants. You go Tiger I love Las Roques for the record. Know the place well.
Hugomarink Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 I've been lucky enough to travel to some really great places but here's my list of places I haven't been that I would love to visit: Italy New Zealand Cuba Spain South America (Argentina, Chile, Peru, etc.) WIne regions of France Sweden Denmark Croatia (went there as a kid when it was still Yugoslavia -- I have relatives there on my Dad's side and really want to visit again) Scotland (to tour some of the distilleries!) And while I've been to the UK several times (mostly London) I'd love to have the time there to explore the countryside.
Duxnutz Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 I've been lucky that my profession has taken me to some pretty far flung places (Arctic circle, Alaska, weird parts of Mexico, small islands in the Carribean, every US state bar Montana, Australian outback, etc) but I really would like to go to: Russia for the Vodka Scandinavia for the "people" The Himilayas for the scenery. Cuba's a given of course...
Philprop Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Number 1 would be Ireland for a week and then England/Wales for another. Particularly during the November tests to catch a game at Landsdown road, Twickingham and Millenium stadium. Number 2 would be Australia at any time of year. But would much rather being able to catch a Brumbies Match at home in Canberra.
Troels Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Been doing a fair bit of travels before parenthood, since then its has all been comfy trips within Europe. Would love to find the time and money to have a long journey with no set day of returning- like going round the World in a sail boat or walk to the midle east (from Denmark that is). Sooner or later... I used to dream of exploring, going deep into the jungle, crossing Sahara or crazy stuff like that, but i've gotten to scared and careful to wish for that anymore.
Habana Mike Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 Egypt has been high on my list for some time. Am intrigued by the mystery and antiquity of Giza, Luxor and would love to cruise the Nile. The wife's always been a bit apprehensive about this one and certainly can't blame her, especially of late. Had a chance to visit friends in Bolivia many years back with an Amazon cruise promised, yet again, particularly as we had young children and the wife is terribly ophiophobic (damn Anaconda flick!), didn't make the trip - would love to do that one as well at some point.
Habana Mike Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 Now that's a couple of nice Poles I'd like to explore as well
Skyfall Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 Scarlett Johansson For the win! Reply of the year!

dicko Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 Whitsundays sailing (realistic) Cuba of course (next few years hopefully, expensive and far from Australia). The USA (would like to spend a few months so this may be a long wait!)

A photo of you squatting in the bush? Magic.
sengjc Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 ...Cuba of course (next few years hopefully, expensive and far from Australia)... Me too before the 'old' Cuba is gone.
Bill Hayes Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 Would love to dive with the swimming lizards of the Galapagos Islands. I've always felt the need to go to Belize for some reason. It just sounds exotic. Japan is on the list. I would love to go back to Mexico - loved it there, especially the Mexican Carribean. Those looking at Fiji, don't discount The Solomon Islands if you like scuba diving etc. Gizo offers the best diving I've done outside of the Coral Sea out from Australia. But it can be hard getting there and it's a touch rough. The resort further away from Gizo called Tavinapupu where I have stayed and Prince William and Kate had their honeymoon is soooooo relaxing. Really want to head back there some day. I also like the look of The Cook Islands - I reckon they might just trump Fiji. I also want to dive with the whales off Tonga...oh, then there's Europe with the French wine regions....too many places, too little time. Then again, it's never too late to beef up your obituary.

What a blast! That is fuel for the dreams. Will have to challenge the world as soon as our daughter is old enough (to either be home alone, or join) Thanks for sharing
Skyfall Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 Hogwarts...... I bet cigars pair up very well with an ice cold Butter Beer! Just hanging out, learning spells, making fun of Muggles, taking in a Q match or two, BBQ'ing with Hagrid, you know, the usual.
