Texas- Guns, Hot Rods, Guitars and Cigars... my kinda place

You are always welcome in Texas, you will always have a place to bunk!

I have the opportunity to travel to Cuba as a foreign diplomat through the University I attend. My school is one of the only ones in the U.S. that has this type of program. Of course there are a lot of meetings, and lectures that you are supposed to attend. However I would be sneaking off to all good spots and tracking down some customs if I go!!!

Santiago, Chile.

The Galapagos Islands.

The first two could be combined in the one trip.

A 4x4 driving tour of Iceland.

My big one, more of a journey than a destination. Sailing to Cuba.

Dublin-Plymouth-Jersey-Biarritz-A Coruna-Lisbon-Cadiz-Gibraltar(detour I know but last chance of fish and chips and a pint for a while)-Casablanca-Canary Islands-Azores-Bermuda-Bahamas-Marina Hemingway.

I know someone already mentioned it but the summit of Everest would be one for me, Bora Bora, Australia and Italy. If i could jump to any place I would visit all the various ruins/places like the Pyramids, Aztec buildings/Pyramids, various castles/landmarks in europe.

oh and Cuba of course haha

I go somewhere every year but have some ideas for retirement when I could have ea longer time to explore.

Australia / New Zealand (retirement trip 4-6 months)

South America (retirement trip 4-6 months)

India (1-2 months)

I would also like to do shorter trips to

China

Spain

Italy

France

Egypt

Greece

the rest of the world really.

I am heading to Asia this winter for 3 weeks but next year I turn 50 and think a special trip would be in order.

The leading location right now is Cuba. I have been there before twice but the idea of spending 3 weeks relaxing with fine cigars good rum and no agenda other than exploring the world of Cuban cigars seems amazing.

I've been fortunate enough to travel to Italy & France (multiple times). I spend a lot of time in Mexico during winter. We make at least 1 - 2 trips there a year. I will be going to Havana for the second time.

Places I'd like to visit:

The Pyramids in Egypt. Way too politically unstable though. I doubt they'll settle down within the next 10 years.

New Zealand. Read a book by someone who decided to migrate there after living in many different parts of the world. The picture he paints of it makes it tempting. Plus, nothing to poison, maim or eat you like in Oz. ;)

Antarctica. So few have visited. I think it'd be an adventure to head down in an icebreaker, set foot and BBQ some penguins. "Penguins is practically chickens" after all. :P

TBH. I'm still working my way through Italy. There's so much that I want to do there. And speaking the language just makes it easier.

Australia is on top of my list for me. Cuba will be taken care of in a few days biggrin.png I'd also love to go to Japan, and the African Continent. And Iran eventually if ever the policital/religious climate changes.

1/ Peru - I would love to go snowboarding there during the north American summer!

2/ Fiji - love to relax with a humidor full of sticks and a fishing rod.

3/ Japan - fish market, sushi, ramen, bullet train and whatever else I can cram in.

Some day we are going to do a safari on the Serengeti. My holy grail trips are usually the next ones I take. I have the ski bug and until it's out of my system, I'm going for it.

This year it's a week each in Grindelwald Switzerland, Vail, and Mt Bachelor Oregon.

God, I love winter.
