ff8092 Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 Anyone try any recently released Behikes? I loved em the first few months they were available, but then they went "flat." Have they returned to greatness or continued to fall short of the original flavor? Thanks for any info.
Habano Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 I think personally anything recent is way too soon to be smoking. These cigars need some time. Many have said the batches from '11 and '12 are flat. Perhaps they are still in their sick period, but honestly I wouldn't consider smoking these for at least five years. At least the 52 and as for the 54 and 56, maybe even longer than five years.
Diamondog Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 You have to try for yourself, it's the only way...I echo the exact opposite of the above...In fact an '11 52 was one of the greatest cigars I have ever smoked....all around for me GREAT cigars, worth every penny a great addition to the Cohiba line...
Hash Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 Those cigars are excellent, the 54 is my favorite I smoked some when first released and from 2011 and both were amazing I think Cohiba did a good job.
Spartan Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 I have B52's from 11' & 12' and I really can't tell the difference...both were pretty great.
Anthonyjoseph89 Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 I had a 10' it was excellent. I have a newer 52 in the humidor, guess I'll have to be patience. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
Bahnofstrasse Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 Smoked a 12 54 the other day and it was meh... Have had them laying down for over a year. Will leave them alone for awhile.
Smallclub Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 That's many "flat" and/or "meh"… IMHO a cigar of that price that doesn't show excellence in its youth is a scam or a fail. I mean, they manage to release some Upmanns that are fantastic ROTT (Connoisseur, Royal Robusto, Half Corona), after all… If these new Cohiba are likely to go through a "sick" or dull phase, it should be documented; hey, Rafael Gonzales boxes still bear a "warning" don't they?
ramon_cojones Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 ^agreed and i think rg still do what i dont understand is how people are not upset, these are 30 dollar sticks, 1.5-3x more expensive than excellent smokes and people are just "meh" when they fail to impress, i know i would be pretty upset and throwing my money away like that but hey that's just me
mk05 Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 What I recall is how good the Behike's were when they were first released. They tasted like aged CoRos but richer. Post OR Behikes? Not so much.

Jah Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 Smoked a BHK 56 from '11 that tasted a tad worse than hot garbage, and had one from '10 that was fantastic. The fact that there's such discrepancy at that price point is disgusting, but that's what you get from Habanos S.A.
canadianbeaver Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 A couple of points. When they first came out, I bought a box of BHK52's and we squealed with delight. I am not sure if they were that great, or if the marketing made us do it. Kind of like a bottle of Johnnie Walker Extra Black? Since then I do have a couple of boxes on ice, but I kind of regret sinking so much dough into them. Can't remember where I read this, maybe in a recent article here about the history of Partagas (?), maybe in an article by a fellow FOH, but after 2002 cigars no longer had a "sick period"?
sblevit Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 ^ I don't think that's true at all. Virtually every CC I have smoked in the last 10 years has gone through a sick period. 2010 BHKs are smoking great. I am sure it's just a matter of a couple yrs until the 2012s are as well.
