fokker4me Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 Anyone looking to watch the world series in the Philadelphia and NJ area? I'm going to check out the Ashton Cigar bar in Philadelphia. I think it is the only place in Philadelphia to smoke, drink and watch the game.
fokker4me Posted October 23, 2013 Author Posted October 23, 2013 Yeah its been open for a few weeks now. I
riazp Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 is this cigar bar connected to holts on walnut? i visit philly quite often, absolutly love the city. Just crious to know how the place is...byob? can you smoke cubans there or you must buy smokes there?
Fshaw Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 Yes, place above Holt's. I would imagine you can smoke cubans there as I used to do so in the back room of Holt's but I think there is some expectation that you purchase something from them, even if that expectation is unspoken.
fokker4me Posted October 23, 2013 Author Posted October 23, 2013 Ashton Cigar Bar is owned by the same company that owns Holts. However it is a desperate business. While they have a Humidor where cigars can be purchased from, many people including myself bring my own sticks without a question or cutting fee. Ghe y also have a huge spirits list as well I didn't count but there had to be 100+ Scotch's as well as 100+ ryes, Bourbons and rums.
riazp Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 next time i'm up down for a weekend i'll let you philly boys know. I always stop by holts when i'm in town and pick up a few singles of the new nc's i enjoy like fuentes anejo's and tatuaje pcr's
fokker4me Posted October 23, 2013 Author Posted October 23, 2013 The upstairs unlike the downstairs lounge does not expect any purchase of cigars since they are a bar. Fell free to bring whatever. I have been up there with others smoking CCs around me.
Hafner32 Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 Was there a few weeks ago. The dress code is business casual. You can sneak in with jeans on occasion as I did but it was during the week and wasn't crowded. I have been told they get a good crowd on the weekends.
fokker4me Posted October 23, 2013 Author Posted October 23, 2013 I see jeans there all the time I just think they draw the line at shorts and tee shirts.
TM-US Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 It's definitely a good spot. Best cigar bar in the northeast. No cutting fees, great bar selection, beautiful wait staff. Next time one of you are in town, hit me up on PM.
fokker4me Posted November 6, 2013 Author Posted November 6, 2013 I went in last week and took a few pictures. The humidor is impressive with the NC selection. Really seems to busy any time I'm there and drink selection is vast.
riazp Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 looks really nice i'll check it out next time in in the city of brotherly love
