Trevor2118 Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 (edited) Over the years there have been many threads regarding cigar abbreviations. These have in general been initiated by beginners wanting to decipher cigar na#e abbreviations use in the forums I have decided to put together a list, to be eventually pinned in the Newbie Introductions Sub-forum. his sub-forum already contains an excellent “A bit of a guide to Newbie members. Due to the difficulty of edit/formatting on the forum, I have used the CCW website to create the layout that will eventually copied to the Newbie Introductions Sub-forum. See http://www.cubancigarwebsite.com/abbrev.html Please leave any comments on the progress of this listing on this post, This is not intended to be a list of “official” abbreviations that should be adopted, but a conversion of current abbreviations to the correct full name. . The opinion of some is that abbreviations should not be used in forums as it could be inferred as “elitist. I intend to post each group separately in the “The Water Hole” sub-forum for discussion and hopefully agreement. Please see this post for what it will be.....assistance to Newbies only. If you agree with the abbreviations listed.....please say so. If you disagree with an abbreviation or can offer a better or equivalent....please say so. Trevor2118 Posted October 18, 2013 Author Posted October 18, 2013 The brand abbreviation I would use a pattern: always 3 or 4 capital letters: If we intended to create an abbreviation system, then this would be fine, however this is not the case here. This is to be a list of abbreviations in currently usage. Notwithstanding this, I have used some of the suggested abbreviations where they have been previously used. Thanks for your input.
Trevor2118 Posted October 19, 2013 Author Posted October 19, 2013 A suggested layout added. Please see: http://www.cubancigarwebsite.com/abbrev.html

leftimatic Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 Thanks for the post was just reading a few and thinking just how much I cant stand abbreviations. Kind of makes a guy feel out of the loop. Just taking a kick at the can here but does HQ mean high quality and what in the world does PE, PSP, or ISOM mean? Just a newbie hear so be gentle.
Dara Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 Guantanamera abbreviation perhaps CrAp ? Diplos for Diplomaticos perhaps ? What about particular cigar abbreviations such as CORO (took me about a while at first to realise this was Cohiba Robusto), Lusi, etc Trevor? I know I used to get confused when Rob would talk about how much he would enjoy his party shorts

Have a read of the newbies guide http://www.friendsofhabanos.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=114645 ISOM - Island South Of Miami Personally, I've never liked the ISOM acronym. Kinda like saying the US is CNOC, "Country North Of Cuba".
leftimatic Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 Thanks for the reminder, read it about a week ago and must of breezed over it. Read it a bit closer this time.
