SerieT Posted October 11, 2013 Posted October 11, 2013 its a shame that some people just don't have any class now and days
oliverdst Posted October 11, 2013 Posted October 11, 2013 If you want a magazine go to Cigar Journal. If you want a forum go to FOH.
Fuzz Posted October 11, 2013 Posted October 11, 2013 Let's not give this issue any more weight than it deserves. Everyone is entitled to their opinions, no matter where they stand.
Smallclub Posted October 11, 2013 Posted October 11, 2013 Just saw this on the thread in question Gregory Mottola .... you bad bad boy! (with anold asian woman accent) What part of Again, don't bring it here. don't you understand?
polarbear Posted October 11, 2013 Posted October 11, 2013 What part of don't you understand? Point made and taken
Philprop Posted October 11, 2013 Posted October 11, 2013 I started over there like most people do as it's usually the first one to Come up when googling for answers when you just start out, but thank god a BOTL turned me in this direction. While I did learn a lot for the people there it was only handful of them. And they know who they are. Lately I must check up there to see if anything interesting is discussed or if there is actually any cigar talk, but nope, just arguing with each other about politics or anything else that will start a debate. Basically, forget that board, this place is better in so many ways, so don't fix what ain't broken.
TheBaron Posted October 11, 2013 Posted October 11, 2013 Rob, hope you told him to go moderate himself...
Louich Posted October 11, 2013 Posted October 11, 2013 I know I am not a long standing member here but one thing is for sure, something is not going to get renewed....
srbbones Posted October 11, 2013 Posted October 11, 2013 Not sure what you are all talking about, as I go to this website FAR more often than the other mentioned. 'Nuff said!
Hash Posted October 11, 2013 Posted October 11, 2013 I came across CA many years ago during a trip to London, at the lovely cigar shop at Harrods, which unfortunately was relocated since, what caught my eye was the cover which had Fidel Castro on, I still own that issue, moving forward it stopped being a magazine about cigars it turned into an Ad. board for expensive gadgets.
Squarehead Posted October 11, 2013 Posted October 11, 2013 I let my subscription expire earlier this year after over 15 years and I think next in line is their forum.Just can't standing any longer.
DrunkenMonkey Posted October 11, 2013 Posted October 11, 2013 My father thinks it's a waste of money, and really stupid, that I buy freshly roasted coffee from a local roaster. He thinks the stuff in the supermarket in cans is just as good. There's no point trying to change his mind. Sometimes a person can be a jerk without intending to. Of course it's insulting to be told by your father that you're doing something stupid and wasting money. But he just believes that I'm paying extra money for nothing. I used to get offended over things like this, but I think there's a distinction to be made between ignorance and assholery. In some cases the line is a fine one, and sometimes reality may be on one side or the other without any detectable difference. If someone really believes that buying cigars blind is equally likely to produce good cigars, than any premium paid to a tobacconist for selecting cigars is, for them, a waste of money. Trying to change their mind is pointless.

Just like Cuban cigars, the coffee has it's own distinctive taste that I have grown to love and I am willing to shell out the extra money for it versus some canned stuff from the local grocery store. Different strokes for different folks!
laficion Posted October 11, 2013 Posted October 11, 2013 I was subscribed when C.A. frist came out, Bravo, They were the only ones to do It . But today,I don't play golf nor do I collect cars and watches.I stoped getting It because It does not reply anymore to my needs plus It talks less and less about Cigars . And about their forum ? FORGET IT !!!!! .It ain't Worth much anyway . So, Don't worry about It.
Guest rob Posted October 11, 2013 Posted October 11, 2013 I'll take my post off topic. How anyone believes that taking two interstate flights, taxi fares, accommodation and time in order to go and hand select stock is not a reason to charge more....well thats beyond me. Perhaps Czar should have a slightly cheaper category called LD - Lucky Dip, which is for sealed unopen stock. Anyway, I don't think he, or anyone here needs to defend the Prez's integrity. It is 'taking the bait' to do so. Disengage verbal (or written in this case) back and forth and let it die.

Different strokes for different folks! I too love DD coffee! There's some acidic/alkaline flavour about it that makes me like it, I think! Need to stock up next time in in the US and A. Oh, Peets is nice too!
vondegroot Posted October 11, 2013 Posted October 11, 2013 I assume this mention of the Czar is in the Nov/Dec Issue which I don't have yet?
Hiroshiro Posted October 12, 2013 Posted October 12, 2013 I Did the 6 month free trial. I'll make sure not to renew
Rushman Posted October 12, 2013 Posted October 12, 2013 Someone wise once told me "you can't fix stupid" I feel at home here, as I think most of us do. I'm in no need of any other forums and certainly don't care to spend the time reading backhanded (or front handed) comments about someone I know to be a good man and a place I know to be the best at what it does. --- I am here: http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=19.390043,-81.404453
Laxman Posted October 13, 2013 Posted October 13, 2013 I do not know what the guy said nor do I care. Rob is the best and in my opinion and no one provides high quality cigars with better customer service. Austin Millbarge: We mock what we don't understand.
Savoy Posted October 13, 2013 Posted October 13, 2013 CA is wothless since JS left....why not have a seasoned vet pick boxes based on what you have requsted...if you can afford the 10-15% upcharge its a no brainer...btw i also have a stockbroker and a mechanic.....
