After 17 years we are finally saying goodbye to our Vermont Castings grill. It has had one hell of run. You definitely get what you pay for as this was like $5000 new back in the 90s. Can someone suggest a good value grill? Under $2000.

Hehe, my weber lasted ten years outdoors without a cover before a leg rusted off, approx 150 to $200 :)

Weber for the win!!

If I had spent 5 large on a grill I would expect it to last me more than 17 years! Bad luck mate.

What are your requirements?

What fuel do you prefer? Will you be smoking?

I think it might have been closer to 3000$ nevertheless it was expensive. Have to get rid of it bc they don't make burner replacements anymore. Not doing any smoking.

Everyone in my family has a weber. We have a 15 year old one that still working great at our hunting cabin. I'd recommend the weber genesis 3 burner goes for about $700-800 here in PA or the weber summit its a little more pricey at about 1200 I believe

Weber Genesis FTW! Way under your budget, too.

My Weber Q is my pride and joy. Cook on it 3-4 times a week—6-7 times in summer. Add a smoker box and away you go for around $700.

I'm quite happy with my Napoleon grill...

X2 Love mine and the infrared burner on it. Had a Weber and it was just as well made but no IR burner.

Switch to charcoal and go for a green egg.

+1 on the Egg, got one for Christmas 2011 from a mate and wouldn't use anything else now.

Slow smoked salmon at 165 for 6 hours yesterday than brought it up to 1000+ to sear some 3" 'dry-aged' prime ribeyes for 6 minutes - both phenomenal!
