El Presidente Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 The warehouse was a mess. it is about 6 months since our last big clean up and there is crap everywhere. And so I ordered the biggest skip I could and had it delivered to the warehouse Tuesday. Now...Smithy normally overseas these cleanups and I am kept well away from them.....I can now see why. I started with cardboard....and then kept internally chanting the "use it or lose it mantra". I picked up pace.....and pace...and pace. it went from Cardboard, to timber.....to broken furniture....to furniture we don't use.....to whole boxes with crap in them.....I assume...... ....to EVERYTHING!!!!! I was on a mission from God! There is something cathartic about cleaning house!!!! ......and then today I remembered some things I probably shouldn't have thrown out......the team is wondering where some things have gone ....apparently some things we need ......Alastair will be spending most of today in a 12 Cubic metre skip bin finding these things.....and a few other things Does anyone else have this disease
LordAnubis Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 My rule of junk. If i haven't used it for 6 months and if it's easy to get again, it's resettled into the bin. If it's a rare item or something that can't be found easily, i'll keep it for a year or two and if i still dont use it i bin it.
srbbones Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 Better than being a hoarder, my friend. I actually admire what you did. Whilst I am not quite a hoarder, I usually don't throw away as much as I should
Spartan Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 I despise clutter! If something is not in immediate use or is of no feasible use then out it goes (much to the aggravation of the wife).
OZCUBAN Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 My Mantra for sure If you haven't used it in 12 months Bin it wether it be clothes or various other items .... We don't have a huge house and space is always at a premium,of course there are things that you will never throw out ,but a hoarder I am not and it is almost spring cleaning time, and the big clean is comming ,even though most of the crap seems to be my wifes work related rubbish .it is amazing how quickly crap plies up . When we have have our council rubbish collection it always amazes me how you get get some people trawling around with a trailer ,taking other people's rubbish back home ???? Cheers
stogieluver Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 Hey Rob, next time you need your warehouse cleaned out, call me. I'll take care of it for you.
CaptainQuintero Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 If something isn't used for a year or you can't remember the last time you used it then throw it away..... I take it the skip is the new home for your stock of RyJ Belicosos
NJP Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 Unless I get rid of the wife straight after a clean up the act would be pointless.
First Lady Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 I told you to keep away from the warehouse, last time you did this you threw away so many things we needed you are NOT ALLOWED remember Honestly
Patric M Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 Take it easy on Alistar (All Star) He is the man, always getting my boxes out quickly for me and always a good guy to chat with.
rook Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 A few months ago I did some spring cleaning and sold a bunch of crap I rarely used. These sales ended up funding my entire wineador project.
MIKA27 Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 I use a 12 month rule myself. My wife... doesn't and hoards everything. Its better to be throwing stuff out versus keeping!
Fuzz Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 Every time I chuck out an item I think I'll never use or need again, 6 weeks later I find out I need it!!
alloy Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 A little story. Many years ago and beng a newlywed husband, I proceeded to lie on the couch and read the sunday paper. I got drowsy and took a nap. When I awakened, I expected to finish my reading. However, the paper was gone. Thrown in the trash. A battle royale ensued and I explained to my bride that my "clutter" was not to be touched until I was finished with it. Needless to say, that has been the way for 28 years now. And I like it that way!
