Been dying my hair since I was 18. Now that I am 35 I have a few greys here and there. I have found men's hair dye to be crap; it never seems to last as long as women's hair dye. The biggest problem with using women's hair dye is the gloves that comes with the dye are sized for them as well so many times my hands will go right through the gloves during the dying process and I end up with black hands for a day. I have a lot more grey in my facial hair but I am not willing to dye it. If anything it has forced me to start shaving more regularly. I used to just buy the $7 to $10 boxes of dye but since I started dating a hair stylist she brings the professional dye home from work and does it for me :)

This might have been addressed in a previous thread, but Rob.....are you having a mid life crisis with the new car and possibly colouring your hair?

The boots are the shirts were already there but the new boots do seem to be turning the overall effect up to 11.

I started going grey in my late 20s and 10 years later its more salt than pepper but there's still a healthy amount of brown hair there. My barber colours his own hair and after taking the mick out of him he tried to convince me to colour mine.

Having said that, working for a Japanese company it's amazing how many of the young japanese guys can't wait to go grey.....maybe grey hair is like catnip for Japanese women (if so it doesn't work when they're in Europe)!

Well, I dye my hair, but I'm a "lady".

Not so much to cover grey, but because I was unlucky enough to not be born with blue hair. tongue.png

Right now it is purple, blue, and magenta, but the magenta will be kissing is arse goodbye tonight to make more of a purple/blue ombre type thing.

So my two cents is that you should totally manic panic the hell out of it. (It washes out.........eventually. wink.png )

The "other half" doesn't dye his hair, although being the good husband he is, he did let me tip it blonde once! I don't think he'd let me do it again though, since I seem to prefer the "unnatural" realm of hair colours now.

On the subject of male grooming,

I take a lot of flack for having more facial products than the average man...

But that has become a by-product from when I eschewed all Gillette cartidge razors and cheap foam/gels and started wet shaving.

Started to gravitating to products that were actually good for my skin rather than chemical filled crap.

Anyway, a few work colleagues and my girlfriend have commented that I have started to get grey hairs on the sides of my head and my beard. Given that I have penchant for grooming products they all expected me to run off and start dying it.

I won't be dying it as its not for me. but I honestly don't think there's anything wrong with doing it.

Now I do draw the line at highlights and blonde tips!

Dye? Hell, I'm still petitioning the girls at "Great Clips" for a bald spot discount! nyah.gif

My wife tells me I should because I am 32 and going gray as I type. But I have no intention of becoming one of those "fancy boys" anytime soon. Seriously, if you are over 45 and dye your hair you are stuck. All the 25 year olds you are hitting on know you do t and will laugh and all of the "older" women could care less.

"shave down' ?

I'm in my mid-50's and still havent a single gray hair (my dad is 80 and only about 50% gray),

but one day I was watching TV with my young daughter and a Touch of Gray commercial came on -

my daughter told me I needed that because it would make me look 'distinguished'.

Gee. Thanks.

Started going grey at 28 from light brown. It started thinning after. I really noticed when diving in the tropics and I passed my camera rig to my dive buddy and he decides with all the bloody fish and reefs that he needs to document my loss :)

Less to wash

I've got some greys but mostly thinning and receding so I went to a full head shave completely bald years ago. When I worked ina big city I went to an old school barber twice per week for a full head and face shave. Gotten lazier now that I'm in the Caribbean so I go to a nice Jamaican barber shop once a week for a shave

I started going grey in my 20s, at 30 I was "salt and pepper" and before 40 I was 100% grey – fortunately a nice grey. The only persons who wanted me to dye my hair were the "hair stylists" at the salon de coiffure. No way!

When I was surrounded by cigarette smokers at work I used a special shampoo - smoke can change your "steel grey" into a dirty greyish…

Are you kidding? It has taken almost 35 years to get anyone to take me seriously. I'm keeping it.

Damn stuff just sticks out wildly though.

I spent a lot of my uni live dying my hair which may have carried on for a couple of years after uni as well. May explain the reason I started going grey at 25. I don't dye my hair now.

seriously? you bugger off to damp island and the first we hear from you is a confession that you have dyed your hair for years. even the bloke in the towel there to greet you at the door would be embarrassed. bet he doesn't dye his hair.

I also think greying hair shows maturity and wisdom. Some chicks love it, especially if you have the beard like the captain of the titanic.

I've got to agree with you. Spoken like a true greying person smile.png
