That's nothing....I know a BMW garage where they sell keys for 80,000 each (you also get to take home a car of your choice as part of the expensive key deal) :P

Nice, at least with the key you know you're getting something enjoyable!

What a joke. Oh well it's his money and it garnered him the attention he obviously feels he needs. When he's broke at 25 he will wish he had that 40,000 back . . .

As we say around here, one doesn't get rich from saving it, but from not spending it ... stupidly.

But hey, he's got his 15 minutes :-)

It seems this "Callum Jones" doesn't exist. In this day and age if an 18 year old selling a "coffee empire" can't be googled, it didn't happen. That kind of thing makes the news. Whether he wants it to or not.

I remember reading when this was advertised earlier this year:

http://www.arbuturia...3/regius-cigars

It's apparently real according to the news section of the vendor's website. Don't want to link to another vendor but it's on their facebook page and the news section of their website.

Agree that it's odd you can't find any information about the buyer on the internet, possibly an alias?

It all reminds me of the fuss over the Penfold's ampule last year:

The one thing that strikes me as odd is that you'd imagine the photo would show the guy from Regius or some sort of display in the background or even a close up of the cigar in question rather than just showing the vendors stock and the kid smoking a barely identifiable cigar.

Maybe I'm just cynical though!

Kodos for them selling such a high priced item. The kid will likely never experience the thrill of finding a great cigar at a bargain but I will never do the $40000 thing.

Let me get this straight....

Price: 40,000 GBP

1st Class Flight to Nicaragua: 13,500 GBP (incl in the price)

Number of Cigars: 1001 (original cigar plus 1000 custom rolled)

Price per Cigar: 26.5 GBP ( [40,000-135000]/1001 )

Okay, hefty price for a single purchase, but not that big a deal considering it's for 1000 cigars and a 1st class flight.

Agree with others that this story sounds really fishy, though.

if it is true, he gets first class return flights to south america - what is that worth? $10-$20K? then a tour of the factory etc. then 1,000 cigars. say $25 each? if you have the dosh, looking like a bargain.

but who builds up a coffee business that they can sell by the time they are 18, for this sort of dosh? that is what i struggle with. if it was internet or something like that then possibly at 18 but to build a coffee business takes time. he may have inherited it but all seems odd.

My thoughts exactly Ken,not meaning to demean the exceptionally clever 18year olds ,but most at 18 Know diddly squat

I know I did lol

Still 40.000 for a non Cuban think I will pass, with that kind of money I can devise my own fantasy trip complete with cigars
