kenton71 Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 Hello to all, I was curious to get folks opinions on the SLR Churchill. I've had a few SLR DC's and Serie A's (and have enjoyed them a lot) but not the Churchill. I can not imagine they would be a whole lot different but was curious to get any thoughts of others. Thank you in advance -C

Thank you in advance -C A great SLR Churchill is a beautiful thing. grass, honey, shortbread. it doesn't have the depth of the DC in any of these aspects however (In my opinion). The biggest problem with SLR Churchills has always been consistency in construction. it is in my top 5 serial offenders of all times for plugs. Unfortunately for the SLR Churchill, when they were pumping it out coincided with the worst time of habanos production. I don't thing their fan base ever recovered.

Changing gears (if I may) beyond this particular cigar -and excluding the "usual suspects" any suggestions for a regular production Churchill size cigar that has potential? All the best!

Try the Bolivar Corona Gigantes, or the Quai d'Orsay Imperiales. I don't know if you would consider these two as "usual suspects " or not, but there you have my nominations! ;~)

I have been impressed by recent R&J Churchill but I would want to see the new shipment.
Troels Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 H u sir Winston - if you like SLR dc you should also like the winnies

I am a big fan of both of these and I would also recommend the Punch DC which I have found the '12's are smoking great right now
kenton71 Posted August 13, 2013 Author Posted August 13, 2013 Thank you all for the suggestions! Much appreciated.
anacostiakat Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 Had some tubed SLR Churchies that were excellent. But they were from a decade or so ago. Pretty much have stuck with the DC's and Serie A's. Punch DC are probably my favorite DC's right now. Along with the Sir Winnies and RAG's.
