So last night I am rushing home to get Valentine's Day present to my wife and my neighbor (who I smoke with quite often) yells at me to stop over.  I knew he had been in Cuba for a week.  I get up on

I didn't care for the heavy marble bases they added to the large ones.  If you thought they were heavy before they are extremely heavy now.  I passed on the large with the heavy base and got 2 smaller

How much money do these typically cost?

Depends on the size and if buying secondary, depends on how much the person selling wants to gouge you...

I would love to get one of the large round or square Hotel Nacional de Cuba ashtrays.

Well being the resourceful person that I am I  put out an "ISO" for one of these ashtrays  Low and behold look what came in the mail today  ?

It is not the largest (it is 7.5" x 7.25" x 2.25" and 7.5 pounds) but I am very pleased with it  Also, it cost me less than half  as much as the really large ones.

65 cuc for the large one as of recently....not counting the XXL or smaller ones.  Like another said, you will get gouged on the secondary....but know, those ashtrays are heavy especially the XXL.  Sometimes those trays can create problems with customs.

Been looking for one for a while now. I just refuse to pay ~$300 for one. :D

If you pay the $300 for a ticket to Cuba (+$50 for visa), and add a few boxes in there, it'd be worth a weekend trip to Havana.

Nice one on ebay now....

I would be willing to pay up to $200 for one.  After all, someone had to haul it back from Cuba.  I bid on this one, $155, thinking that the shipping was $45.  But after I bid, I noticed at the bottom it says shipping to the US is $70.

Not that it matters because my $155 bid has still not met the reserve.

The last two on eBay sold for $350 and $400, without shipping.

Crazy.  I could see, if they were discontinued, but they still make these.  Some guy on facebook was selling them for $125, but I didnt respond quick enough.

These days time is the true commodity. As such, not many people have time to take a weekend off to fly down to Havana. As a result, you see them sell for double and triple++ of what people actually paid for them. I tell you what though, If I do find them on the next trip, I'm buying all I can get lol not to make money, but probably give most of them away as gifts. I just want a black one with the gold lettering for myself...

That is my favorite one as well.  I know time is a factor, but it is an ashtray.  It’s not like it makes the cigar taste any better, and I have plenty of other ones to ash into until I can get one at a reasonable price.  To each his own, I guess.

Ha!  I was able to get two from him (the smaller ones, 7").  He posted at 2am and I just happened to see it because my power was out and I was in my truck charging my phone and letting the dog cool off.  If I'm being honest I thought I was buying the larger ones but I guess that's karma for lying about what 7 inches is since high school.  ;)

The version sold at the Partagás LCDH looks like the one on the right, but it says “Casa del Habano” and “Partagás”. It was 9” in diameter and 28 CUC. I’m surprised I’ve never seen any pictures pop up anywhere.

Until about 4 years ago, those ashtrays were never out of stock. But they had fewer sizes available.

The big ones were 25-30cucs at the time, the smaller ones 12-15. That's what I paid for my ones.

Now, they will usually have some ashtrays, almost always the smaller ones and the square ones. But it's 50:50 if they'll have the bigger cigar ones.

Some days none, some days dozens. I suppose one tour bus of the right people could clear them out.

I've never been able to get the guy behind the counter to hold one for me or take my number or anything like that. When I ask, on days when there are no big ashtrays, if they'll be in tomorrow or soon, the usual response is a shrug.

Whenever I'm in Cuba, I'm in the Nacional at some point most days. Just about every trip they have had the big ashtrays available at least one of the days. It can take patience.
