Fuzz Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 GTR XU1 TORANA TORANA - Ton Of Rust And No Acceleration
Bill Hayes Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 TORANA - Ton Of Rust And No Acceleration Yeah, I hear ya....but I still love a Torana and a Sandman Panel Van with an airbrushed mural on the side. If Rob wanted an extra 2 doors I would have suggested my favourite SLR 5000 Torana in lime green and black or yellow and black with bolt on guards and a blower on the hood. Not very environmentally friendly but it sure makes a statement. Or perhaps the Torana of the 1990's - Subaru WRX STI.
Orion21 Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 For the hell of it I went to my local Mazda dealer this weekend and test drove the MX-5 Miata Club version. Listed at just under $30k here in Phoenix. Wow was it a blast to drive. If I lived in an area with winding roads and didn't want to spend over $30k on a sports car I can't imagine anything more fun.

And (unlike certain high-end German cars), they are dead reliable! My 1993 is still a car I miss sometimes...
ZinZan Posted July 16, 2013 Posted July 16, 2013 It's funny that people are still giving suggestions that are way out of the price range. Boxster S? Another Aussie mentioned it's $120k. I hope that's brand new, cuz no way OZ cars are cheaper than Malaysian cars. In Malaysia, you can get a good second hand boxster for about USD 70k
Fuzz Posted July 16, 2013 Posted July 16, 2013 I hope that's brand new, cuz no way OZ cars are cheaper than Malaysian cars. In Malaysia, you can get a good second hand boxster for about USD 70k A 2010 Boxster 987 S goes for anywhere between $70k to $95k AUD, so about the same price depending on the year model that you were looking at.
Custom56 Posted July 16, 2013 Posted July 16, 2013 The BMW is my dream car "slightly" within reach http://youtu.be/2xwecTp91-o
marty922 Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 Other than the back seat requirement, this is what I'd be having a squiz at http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/Porsche-356A-1957/SSE-AD-2228006/?Cr=1

fokker4me Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 My God...we have gone from mini, megane, Arbath to 911's But a 2008 is still not a bad car if well mantained. I love the 335I Convertable. To get it within budget would be a 2008 with 50,000 km on the clock. Welcome to luxury cars in Australia
fokker4me Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 If you need a back seat in that 2 seater, that eliminates pretty much all of the sports cars mentioned in this thread. Actually forget that- I just checked; you can buy Renaults in Oz. The Renault Sport Megane 265RS Trophy+ looks like an awesome ride- 265 bhp, 6 speed manual, very sporty- Cup suspension, available Recaro seats, 19" wheels, bixenon lights, parking sensors. I would get one of those- looks to be around $42-43k in Oz. Those optional Recaros are the Speedster CS- great seats, very comfortable, very supportive, next best thing to a fixed back shell. They also look awesome. I would also consider the VW Scirocco R- great looking car, although it's still based on the old Mk. 6 platform. A lot more money, though- looks to be $55k. I guess that means even second-hand, most of the really heavy Euro stuff is going to be megabucks. Otherwise, I'd suggest a BMW M135i. The Minis are fun to drive, but they're overly stylized IMO and not worth the price if your'e talking Aussie prices. What does a R34 Nissan Skyline GT-R run down there? What about a Subaru WRX STi Spec-C or one of the special editions- S204, S205?
fokker4me Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 The Renault is an AWESOME option. If they were avail in the states I would absoutly own one in my garage. The USA is really a great place for used cars. As an automotive wholesaler here there are so many great options in your price range.
Habana Mike Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 DONT KNOW IF THIS HELPS.OR NOT Win a car Yes, win a 2013 Fiat by simply answering just One Question: The Question What color is the seat belt? (NO SCROLLING BACK) No Fiat for you! Funny, I said to myself red and had to scroll back to check. Does she come with my Fiat?!?
First Lady Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 Don't know why you are bothering Rob as you and I know that you will loose your licence in a matter of weeks, that is why you got the Jeep in th first place as it is hard pressed to got too fast I still remeber you driving my Susiki Swift, the poor baby was pushed to the limits when you drove her
Habana Mike Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 Hmmm, doesn't sound like there's a new car option at present, at least not a sports car
