Mel Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 I went to the search and found this thread because I wanted to check the status of the big FL trip. I am disapointed to learn that we are talking about the summer of 07. I told my family that we were going to FL this summer and they were thrilled . I can not wait to tell them that it is not this year but the next:-(

I need to start reseaching renting a house, boat etc... Maybe Rob and the boys would want to go this year..? Never know. Oh and Mel. What kind of father breaks their family's hearts and puts the kibosh on the summer vacation? You bad man.
Taino Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 I'm in for this trip. I would like to suggest 2 things: 1- Chile: trout fishing in a few unexplored spots, dryfly paradise. 2- Venezuela: my family is mounting a new fishing operation there and I think I could get good prices at top facilities.
Cartierusm Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 That's a beautiful fish, but alas a fishing trip would be out of the question as I'm not located down under. If and when I do go down under I'll be big wall climbing not fishing.

There is more to it also. 07 is when a friend and I are planning a fall trip to the Amazon for the Peacock Bass. Two trips in one year will be expensive and hard to sell to the wife and kids. I was wondering who was going to be the point man for the Keys trip, glad to see it's you. I might just try to come down there and swing by Tampa, you and few others. Herfs for me and pools and beach for the family.

Been checking into houses to rent in Islamorada and for bayfront or canal front it ranges from $1000 to $3000/week. **** If only 8 people made it, thats less than $400/person on the high side. We need to talk with Rob and Ken to see if all of this will work out. Im sure your sly ass can swing somethin!
Mel Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 Since you tell me I have to I guess I will. That other thrip is still pipe dream. I mean that other bloke will have a hard time getting the 5G together for the Amazon trip. That will leaved me with 5G that I have to spend on fishing. I really wanted to go to NY last weekend but it did not apeal to the family. God knows that with all I'm spending these days on smokes the family needs some consolation prize. They love the warm and the water and hate the cold and the city. Islamorada here we come.
Loki Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 Hey what about Musky fishing in the Cool North? Big, hard fighting toothy critters. Rent a big cabin lakeside. Very affordable for almost anyone. Plus good exchange rate in Canada. Two of my friends guide Musky trips. One of them appears on Canadian fishing tv shows. The other writes articles for ESOX and Musky Hunter magazine.
