Hoshneer Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 I really like Google Wallet and it works like PayPal.
cnov Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 At the risk of sounding like a broken record, I just read this interesting article about a retailers experience with accepting Bitcoin as a payment method so far. http://www.coindesk.com/pros-cons-bitcoin-merchants-view/ What do you think Rob? If you want to give it a whirl, I'll buy a box and most likely be able to get other bitcoin holders interested.
ArtemusGordon Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 GUYS!! Check out the iPhone app venmo! It is awesome go look at their fees and it's dead simple to use I love it
cnov Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 That looks great, but it can only be used in the US unfortunately https://venmo.com/info/fees , I think a global payment system would be more suited to *****INT
Fosgate Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 I sat through a presentation about Bitcoin the other day. Do yourself a favor and google Bitcoin and money laundering and you will see why it has the attention of law enforcement around the world at present.
Philski Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 Add me to the list of Google Wallet fans. I've used it a few times and it works great. You can send funds right in gmail. It might make for a smooth process for those ordering from the Czar. Google Wallet only seems to have full functionality within the US for now, so that isn't going to work. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, I just read this interesting article about a retailers experience with accepting Bitcoin as a payment method so far. I have used Bitcoins for an online payment, only once though. The whole process was a faff and felt dodgy and creaky. I kept thinking that if something went wrong and my cash disappeared, who could I call? That's right, no-one. I also had to use GB£ to buy Bitcoins, which then had to be used to purchase US$ - that's one step too many as far as I'm concerned. The fact is that PayPal is a very very good system, notwithstanding their policies on what can and can't be purchased. I also have had a problem paying with my debit card for cigars from Czar, so I looked into alternatives. Wire transfer from my bank was an outright ripoff (they gouge on every aspect of the process), and then happened to spot an advert on the Tube for Transferwise Used it, worked, saved me a decent chunk of cash, will definitely use it again.
mychetboy Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 Bitcoin will be shutdown in 12 months in my opinion. Too many issues on govt, especially international law, distribution and it being recognized as a real currency. Let alone the CEO and others being arrested. I would stay clear of bitcoin. Unfortunately there is a war against tobacco and maybe the tobacco lobby needs to propose some alternatives?
Maplepie Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 Have you blokes never heard of E-Transfers? Or Interact money transfers? I've tried bringing these up to people in other countries, but they just sort of shook their heads and said they don't know what it is but it sounds magical that a Wire Transfer can only cost $1.50 And a dollar fifty is like 0.02 Euroes now..... But that's just my two cents.

The guy you're referring to was the CEO of an exchange that buys and sells Bitcoins. I'd be willing to bet some cigars that Bitcoins will still be a viable currency in 12 months, if you really believe what you're saying. Want to bet? 1

Transferwise are a great company, I haven't actually used them yet, but they offer incredible rates of currency transfer and deliver to specified bank accounts for you, the only issue being the time it takes for a standard international wire transfer.
Nedule Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 here's an interesting article on the bitcoin topic, I myself think bitcoins or other virtual currencies could become something, although bitcoins seem to be the one of choice, or at least in the media http://www.theatlant...-fix-it/283624/
cybermadhatter Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 Forbes magazine (march 3rd) this week, did a big article on PayPal and PayPal alternatives. I just signed up for 'square' and the square app. They mentioned all the above, including amazon, apple, and square.
dowjr1 Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 How do these payment services compare to PayPal in terms of cost?
