DrunkenMonkey Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 I for one would love a non-cc method of payment like PayPal. 1
nikesupremedunk Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 I've been boycotting payfail for almost 10 years now. I like amazon payments, but not sure if that's what you're looking for. 1

Tan1801 Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 I know some US retailers have been able to accept paypal transactions for tobacco items so they may have allowed it for some retailers. No idea about the hoops you have to jump through (if any) to get this privilege though.

El Presidente Posted July 9, 2013 Author Posted July 9, 2013 pricks are you able to just set up another account using a new email? might also have to change the bank account funds clear to i think I would rather find another option. They are a pain to deal with.
finecigar Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 Ya PayPal angers me too..On my last string with them. It's not the company that it should be. I have heard nothing but good about Klik and pay.
semifan1 Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 +1 for Kilk and pay have used them a couple of times no problems
CanuckSARTech Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 Bitcoin, heard of lots of issues. Klick-and-Pay, yes, good things there I believe. I still mostly use PayPal for 90% of online stuff. But Rob....PayPal alternatives? Is part of this questioning for a certain non-techie KBG???? LOL.
Fuzz Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 The problem with Bitcoins is that there is no stability in the value. Take this as an example: Let's say you could buy a $25 cigar for 1 Bitcoin. A few months later the value of Bitcoins double. Now you can buy 2 $25 cigars for the one Bitcoin. Now imagine the value of Bitcoins going up 10x their original value, making the value of your goods severely deflated. Typically, a govt agency (Federal Reserve, RBA, etc) would step in to reduce the volatility in the market, but there is no such protection with Bitcoins. Now if the value of Bitcoins are going up, people are going to hoard their stash like a paranoid crack addict. Sooner or later, those that got in early will offload and make a killing, while those that got in late will just be trying to recoup their losses. And what does this spell? Total collapse of the Bitcoin market. Bitcoins are essentially an investment, not a currency. They have no inherent value except for what people believe they are worth.
dpodiluk Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 I've used payza.com to buy other items that paypal would ban. Agree that paypal sucks for sellers, they always side with the buyer in any type of dispute.
oldirtyewok Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 how about google wallet? Ive paid thru them a few times without any issues. Not sure about their tobacco policies though. I've used amazon as well without issues.
Lanejsl Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 I use Amazon payment systems all the time with no problems. I would stay away from Bitcon. I know a few states here in the U.S. have sent them cease and desist letters because they are violating state and federal money transmitter laws.
backslide Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 I've been boycotting payfail for almost 10 years now. I like amazon payments, but not sure if that's what you're looking for. I also like Amazon payments

ptrthgr8 Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 About the only thing PayPal hates more than tobacco is anything related to firearms - I've had many friends who've had their accounts/funds frozen for simply trying to sell otherwise perfectly legal items... that happened to be firearm related. Their platform, their rules, so whatever. But as a firearms enthusiast here in the US I was absolutely giddy to learn of a new service called PistolPay that started up a couple of years back: http://www.pistolpay.com/ Basically the same idea as PayPal. Only they're not a bunch of fascists. From their site: "PISTOLPAY is perfect for the automotive, art, collectible, antiquities, firearms, and jewelry markets, as well as other industries that involve significant value transfers from one party to another. Within each market, we tailor solutions that fit that market’s industry-specific transfers." I didn't see any mention of overseas transactions one way or another, so I'm assuming they don't really care where the buyers/sellers are located. (But we all know what happens when you assume.) I've used them for a number of purchases (ranging in cost from $100-$3000) and have never had any issues. As a buyer, their slightly different process makes me feel a lot better about the whole thing. I've never used them as a seller, though, so YMMV. Cheers, ~ Greg ~
