Worst box of cigars you own.....

Recommended Posts

I would have said a year ago that the RASS that I have are the worst, but somehow, after sitting around for a couple years, they improved and are decent now. Not great, but decent. I've never experienced this phenomenon before.

The worst ones I own, are the empty ones! Since I've been letting the Prez pick most of them for me, they have all been stunning! (Boy does that ever sound like brown-nosing after reading) ;-)

I have a box of 10 Short Churchills, well now 8, and they have a light thin tan wrapper you can see the green binder through--have a feeling they aren't coming back.  Ugly as hell.  Taste terrible, te

That's funny.

See, now that's the spirit! So you'll take them?

Umm, no. Thanks though peace.gif

  • 2 years later...

I didn't like the flavour bouquet of the 1 year old Upmann Majestics when i got them. After sitting for 5 years now it was damn brilliant. Heaps of silky smooth woodsy toast and some light leather.

Ha. No takers yet. Still available, at the low low price of having to smoke these things.

I have a friend who doesn't have much money and loves any cigars he gets.  Whenever I go to some event I generally give him everything.  Send them my way.  Since we live 1 hour from each other shipping will be cheap--I'll send you a couple sticks to make up for it.  I'll then smoke one and put up a review for giggles and give them to that fella if your ok with that?  Unless....I like them.  Haha..

Spine of dog hair and bitter soap.  Definite notes of boxed Mac and Cheese (the box), and Fish sticks (the cheap old freezer burned kind).  A little earthy--the bad earth like the kind under an old trash can.  If they weren't from a reliable place I would think they were fakes...but I don't think anyone would even dare make a fake cigar taste like these.  Ugh.

Tie score Some horrible RJ lanceros  notes of burnt plastic, dog mess, dirty gym socks and over cooked liver Came from another internet vendor against my advice I split a box with a friend who bought them

Awful H uppman robustos that a friend brought back from Cuba  Light oilless wrappers, poor construction, and zero notes of anything except for maybe stale marlboros. Poorly humidified

Both went in the trash?

An early experiment of mine in creating a flavoured cigar ... a bunch of unbanded Hondurans that have been treated to various flavourings.

The worst by far is the Marmite.

I keep those for people I cannot stand, or for good friends who will appreciate a prank.

H Upman Monarchs from the bad old days. I think they were late '01s. Not one was smokeable. Some RASCC come in a close second a few years later..

Rob says he relates his cigars to food.  Well, here in my corner of paradise a meal might consist of Fish Sticks, Mac and Cheese, and Corn, or my personal (not favorite) Hamburger helper, Boxed mashed potatoes, and once again--corn.  Or if were being fancy a salad consisting of iceberg, cheese, and ranch dressing.

Ramon Allones Extra.   They looked amazing, they were made very well,   the only draw back was they tasted like burnt hair and salty beef gravy. Probably one of the most unusual cigars you'll ever taste, but good is another question

I'll have the rest of the salty beef box of cigars if you haven't already tossed them

Somewhere between 07-09 I got a box of dip 1s. They were the worst cigars I ever had. Tasted like someone rolled up grass clippings.  I was fully convinced they were fakes, but no idea why someone would fake dip 1s.

2010 Choix Supreme. Absolute flavorless dog rockets. My first, and last box of these.

That's really depressing to hear. Mine were 06s and were amazing. Just got the 16s, will need some time but much stronger. PM me your address, would be curious to see what you think compared to 2010.

One of my first purchases (when I first started getting into cigars) - A box of DE Smoking Monk Porter, off of a certain auction site.  Bitter, acrid, fireproof, bleh.  Haven't tried to smoke one in years, I was giving them to people that were curious.  I might try one this weekend, but I don't have high hopes.

+1 on wide churchills. Had a box. Looked amazing. Smelt amazing. Tasted like cardboard with the very faintest of what has been described as cherry. Just enough to make you think there might be something redeeming. Age did these teasers no favours. Wished they were smoked when rolled, reckon theyd have been tastier fresh. Then more cardboard... or what I imagine cardboard rolled in a cigar would taste like. I smoked most of them, not willing to give away at herfs.. A couple were used as unlit comfort cigars when I had a cold or flu back when I smoked multiple a week and craved one but had a viral cough or had smokes too much. They had more flavour unsmoked. Put me off RNJ till a good member shared a hermosos which was flavourful with that fruity cherry taste. The only single I had since was an anjedos pyramid thingy to put to test a reviewer`s comments. It lived up to their assessment. It was bland and the last third had a crude metallic taste. Have two of this years LE. Will test by the years end. They look and smell amazing.

PM me your address, I'll send you what's left.  I have given some away since the original posts, but I think I have almost all of them deep in the coolidor.  I'll keep one for myself to smoke after your review and send you the rest.

Had a few 3 packs of monte double edmundo. I believe they were 2014-15.
Wrappers were not the greatest. Very light, but they did seem to have a nice aroma.
They were garbage. Tasted like air. Burnt cardboard.
Was so disappointed, because I really enjoyed the PE and a few edmundo that I have had.
It has turned me off from buying double edmundos unfortunately.

My worst box is a PL Sobresalientes RE Great Britain. Too expensive for the value. They are looking nice, but not my taste. Maybe they need more time. I think I have to taste one again, soon.

An '07 cab of PLPC...they were awful from day one and still are to this day. You know when you smoke a young cigar you can taste the potential of aging? I never got that impression early on and let my better judgement be damned as I kept them thinking they would improve. I break a few out periodically as a joke with my buddies as to how bad a cigar can taste. I still have this one box in my humidor as a reminder to toss crappy cigars when I get that impression again.

Not to mention, to have a horrible tasting cigar rent valuable space in our humidors is flat out wrong!

SLR Serie A 2000. Plugged and hard like a wooden stick. Even aged did not do it any favor.

i bought a single SLR Serie A 2001 from the same local vendor and it tasted soooo good. Went back the next day to buy the remaining of the box but it was sold so i decided to buy a sealed new box, what a mistake.

H. Upmann Mag46 2008. They tasted bland for 8 years and now, they taste phenomenal. Sometimes, you just gotta wait it out!
