Literally drinking a Cohiba

I found this photo on my phone from a few years ago. It is of a drink called a Cohiba that I enjoyed at a bar under the Atlantic restaurant at Melbourne's Casino. The barman said the ice was infused with smoke from a Cohiba and it came presented in a Cohiba box full of cigar smoke. It doesn't sound that nice but it wasn't that bad at all. Anyway, just thought I'd share. And I don't have any affiliation the mentioned bar but it would be interesting to see if it is still on the menu. Cheers.

Who's secondhand smoke infused the ice cubes and then exhaled into the box? Hope they hadn't eaten any garlic beforehand!

Personally, I'd rather they give me the Cohiba and the drink separately.

Martell make a cognac that is made for Cohiba with their logo. Looks nice but I would Imagine it would be quite expensive.

If I remember correctly, those bottles were round about $500. During the last Havana trip, we found one at a particular cigar shop. It was sitting in a back corner, kind of hidden away. The ladies said it wasn't for sale though, they wanted to keep it there as a decoration.

As others have mentioned, the Cohiba Cognac used to be commissioned by HSA to Bisquit and now the commission is with Martell.

I have seen the Martell produced Cohiba Cognac in the Duty Free at the Singapore Changi airport.

There is also a range of Davidoff cognacs produced by Hennessy.

I have experienced something similar at a famous bar called The Bowery, here in Brisbane. The owner Perry Scott is well known for his cocktails and training up the young gun bartenders. This drink, called Methuselah's Cigar, combines whisky and rum in such a way, it's incredible. They make their own tobacco syrup. Crazy good! Has to be tried if any of you visit Brisbang!!!

BTW : Talking about cigar infused beverages, I will see whether I can get a bottle or two of the Cigarignac for November, but only if I can have it in a regular bottle not in the heavy decanter.

LOL. Sounds good! And I'm sure with your charm that you might be able to convince those ladies to perhaps trade you bottle for bottle with that Cigarignac. Sounds like an even trade!

The Davidoff branded cognac was for sale at Astor Liquor in NYC for a while, and was available in the bar at Hudson Bar and Books a while ago. I Dont know when they stopped carrying it but it has been s while and very very pricy.

elsewhere in various restaurant topics, i have detailed an extraordinary dessert i've had a number of times at can roca (now, finally and deservedly, rated number one on the planet), called 'havana dreams'. i did post photos somewhere.

comes out in two parts - a mojito sorbet and then a marble ashtray with what appears to be a single cigar in it and in the part for the ash, what looks like a pile of ash. the 'cigar' is actually ice-cream with a chocolate wrapper. and the pile of ash is actually spice to dip the 'cigar' in. when making the 'cigar', they attach the ice-cream maker to a vacuum machine which is attached to a partagas D4 and suck in the smoke.

truly amazing dessert. i know that these guys have been doing this for at least 12 years.
