Just looking to see everyone's opinion on which regular production double corona they prefer. I only smoked a RA gigantes so far, and honestly don't remember too much except it was decent. Thinking of picking up a box of double coronas for the next winter and want to know what smokes best young and what has the best aging potential.

My favorite DC (and maybe favorite cigar overall) is the SLR. I also love the Lusitania. But my advice is to call Rob and have him put together a sampler that includes all the DC's. Then you'll be buying based on YOUR opinion.

Agree on the SLR. Most consistent. It is my go to DC. Love the Punch DC as well. The Lusi when on is spectacular but I've had some inconsistencies. The truth is I enjoy them all, and I trust you will as well.

Lusis from 2008-on I have found underwhelming. Not nearly as much power as I would like, sort of insipid smokes. SLR, Punch, and RA for me. The Hoyo DC is a pale shadow of what it used to be, but they are good for lazy weekend mornings.

SLR have been smoking well fresh and who does not love the aged ones. RA are very good too and good price. I had a fantastic cab of 04 lusis.

I voted for Punch DC. I've only tried ones from '98 and '99 and they are classic cigars. My second favorite DC is HDM DC and then Partagas Lusitanias. I went through an '08 cab of Lusis. Very good cigar, but not enough kick.

Had 3 HDM DCs with a bit of age I bought rom Rob (2007) and to say each one was incredibly would be an understatement.

I haven't had all the others so can't comment on those. That said I'll be buying a cab of the HDMs o put away until 2020.

Thanks guys. I actually have a single of everything minus the lusi and DA's but have the lusi coming in the mail. Will sample each and decide. :)

Some good smoking in your future. I love Double Coronas, but rarely have the time for one. Maybe tonight is a DC night for me. Cheers.

RA Gigantes for me.....:)

X2 as well as the RA Grandes. Like the Lusi's but find them inconsistent.

I voted for Punch DC as these can be some of the finest, young or old. Got everything on your list aging right know and my list would be Punch, Lutsi, SLR, VR, HDM and RA in that order for my tastes.

I have a tender spot for the DC's... great smokes!

Love the 2007 & 09 SLR DCs Honorable mention to mid 2008 Lusis. All the others don't have enough power to keep my interest in such a large cigar.

Haven't had much luck with the SLR DC. Of the 4 I've had from 07, all of them have been underwhelming. The Lusi and Gigantes would be my pick.

Btw, that reminds me... Rob! What happened to the 5th SLR DC from the 5yr review? lol3.gif

Punch is the tastiest I have had, but I like the HDM, its lighter than the rest, and thats alot of tobacco to smoke at one sitting...

My favorite right now is the RA gigantes!

Still a lot of aged Punch large formats available, and those can't be beat. Unless we're talking pre-'98 Hoyo or RyJ.

For me the punch tops the list followed by the HDM and the SLR

Same here. Still have about ten SLR DC from 07. Never had one that was able to catch my attention for too long.

I've had some very nice VR DA with some age on it.

One has to wonder how much weight the 10 ct box format carries in the Party Lusi's popularity.

Admittedly it's the only way I've purchased Lusi's, simply due to not smoking cigars of this length that often.
