Ryan Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 I was thinking of box codes earlier and remembered this picture I took a while ago. Maybe of interest to Trevor, it narrows down when Cubatabaco became Habanos. Between OISL, February 1995 and OLSL, May 1995 the change happened. Interestingly (for some people) the "Hecho en Cuba" stamp was changed in that factory (La Corona) too. The crossbar in the 'H' and 'E' in the stamp is more centered in the newer stamp.
Ryan Posted April 28, 2013 Author Posted April 28, 2013 Actually, looking at the stamps on the boxes with fresh eyes, it would make absolute sense that all 3 stamps 1. Cubatabaco/Habanos s.a 2. HECHO EN CUBA and 3. Totalmente a mano are applied at the same time with a single printing die. All three change at the same time (in the case above, between Feb and May 1995) and all three are so evenly spaced. Does anyone know if this is the case, I've never seen that process nor the dies.
Duxnutz Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 I think the CubaTabacco one looks better. That leaf is cool, wish they still did that!
