Britain’s cigar import company has a special Cuban smoke planned for its 225th anniversary. The cigars are already rolled, but they won’t go on sale for two years.

Hunters & Frankau, the importer of Cuban cigars for the United Kingdom, has created the Ramon Allones Hunters and Frankau 225. The cigars are being shipped from Cuba to the United Kingdom this spring, but Hunters will age them until the 225th anniversary of the company, which is in 2015.

“In the old-fashioned way they are going to sit in our warehouses for two years,” said Jemma Freeman, managing director of Hunters & Frankau.

The smoke has a somewhat rounded head, similar in style to the one found on Mexico’s Edmundo Dantes Conde 109 Regional Edition smoke originally released in 2007.

Freeman, who spoke to Cigar Aficionado earlier this year in Havana, said she had been doing tastings “for the last 18 months” to finalize the blend for the cigar.

For those seeking a special British smoke that will be available sooner, the Flor de Cano Gran Cano will be the U.K.’s Regional Edition for 2013. Measuring 5 1/2 inches long by 50 ring gauge, the smokes will come in boxes of 10 cigars, with a total production run of 50,000 units. As with all of Britain’s recent Regional Edition cigars, they will have secondary bands reading “Exclusivo Gran Bretaña.”

Will wait until our good friends in GI get them (hopefully they will). Even then, they'll probably still be overpriced.

Oh, is that all? I'll take 10.

I knew and had been told it was for the H&F anniversary but I didn't know or suspect it would be a RA, the cigar is truly stellar right now, it should be amazing in a few years.

Ramon Allones .... maybe that is why I am so fond of it. In hindsight it looks logical :-)

Anyway, I was fortunate to take away a few dozens of these beauties with me last visit and they will rest their heads for a while ....

Smoked a few of these last Feb in HAV. Guess who gave them to me ok.gif

Splendid cigars and just like Nino said I didn't know they were RA but In hindsight it looks logical.

Happy to share them with you, Frank - we will test them again in a while to celebrate your "Maulwurf-markmanship-trophy" ok.gif

And funny that I passed one of these to Simon Chase at our La Guarida dinner ... innocent.gif

I really love them and will have to be very disciplined from now on...

I'm pretty excited about the 2013 Flor de Cano RE!

x2!!! I'm still hoping to secure a box of the LFDC original RE's eventually.

These H&F 225 Cigars sound like something I'd be excited to pick up too - I'm sure the cost will be prohibitive though! Better start saving....

Should I sell my left or my right, err, arm for those? :lookaround:

An optimist!! lol3.gif

Yea, you're quite right! They'll probably add another gimmick like the gold foil on the Punch Serie D'Or and charge 10£ more.

I hear there will be a 50 count humidor released as well, that will be pricey!

I hear that :

the cigars will come in cedar cabinets of 100 cigars, 4 bundles of 25. This may just be for shipping and aging, only time will tell.

So, you might need to sell, errr, all 8 of them ... innocent.gif

I heard that too, that they're coming in boxes of 100. I think that's great, it means all the shops will be selling singles. :)
