Ryan
Came across these recently. I didn't know Fonseca made Petit Coronas or packaged cigars without tissue. These are pre-embargo though. Excuse the picture quality, the side of the box does state "Petit Corona" but the quality of that picture was especially rubbish. It's a little dress box of 5 cigars. Smallclub
Very cool find, just looked them up on CCW or would have if they were on there, 1st cigar i have looked for that isnt listed, must be rare! It has nothing to do with rarity. These Fonseca are pre-embargo, while CCW covers "Brands produced since Cubatabaco took control of the Cuban Cigar Industry in February 1962"… Before the Revolution there were hundreds of marcas and thousands of vitolas…
Ryan
Before the Revolution there were hundreds of marcas and thousands of vitolas… That's exactly it. Literally thousands. At least hundreds of marcas. For whatever reason, very little of whatever record-keeping there was seems to have survived. It reminds me, I must put up a picture of my my pre-embargo Cohiba band. Ryan
Not to belittle Trevor's site in any way by the way. It's brilliant and a huge resource. The fact is nobody knows what might be out there. There are probably hundreds of brands that lasted less than 5 years. More still that were produced solely for a single retailer. More marcas and vitolas still that were never officially produced but exist in sample boxes for distributers/retailers.

frenchkiwi
hopefully they smoke well and not just like musty tobacco! finecigar had a good experience with some cigars from the '30s recently, i wonder if the cellophane wrappers they were in helped to preserve their flavour... probably

There is never any 100% idea of what old cigars will be like before u actually smoke them. It's a hit/miss process that can be pretty costly. Probably more disappointments than there are rewarding smokes with that much age. But when they are rewarding and flavorful, it's so worth it.
