New art form I am working on... very cool

Recommended Posts

I have been working very hard on a new form of artwork over the last couple of weeks. I has been pretty successful and a gallery in Toronto has given me some good feedback. This is very much the begining stages, but I think you guys are really going to dig this!

Check it out. These images are created in Adobe Illustrator 6. They use my skills as a graphic designer and a couple of years of colour theory I took in Art School. The mentor for this is a guy named Itten. Hope you like!

Wow so cool!!! Johannes Itten of Bauhaus school I presume? I'm in architecture and graphic design have always interested me and I love Illustrator, it's my favorite program! Keep the good work!

I can't seem to tease out the 3D images buried in these... usually I could get them no problem, these are more difficult. I will have to work on my connoisseurship.

LOL If I could make 3d images in them I would really make some dough!

Reminds me a bit of those 3D artwork books / brain teasers from years back. Where you held the image super close to your face, basically went cross-eyed, and then moved the book/image away from you and began to see a 3D image hidden within the confusion of the main image. Kinda funky.

If you don't mind the unsolicited opinion, I'd say they are getting better each iteration... that last red and gold-ish one is my favorite so far.

Must be a Canadian at heart! Art must have rubbed off on you!

Agreed with him, Lisa - that maple leaf one looks great.

Actually the first true tessellation I ever created was for the Toronto Herf last year, I gave out post cards with this on it and there were 2 framed prints in the silent auction.

By the way, if anyone wants to download these low Rez images for your laptop or cel phone backgrounds, feel free... Unfortunately they are not really printable

Note the lighters between the cigar bands...
