JohnS Posted July 17, 2017 Posted July 17, 2017 I've revived an old thread here, but it's ten years now since the Cuban Maduro 5 series cigars have been released. Are they still a success? And what about the recent Partagas Maduro No.1 released in the second half of 2015? My view is that I've enjoyed aged Genios and Secretos cigars from time-to-time and I'm happy to have them in my humidor as a change-of-pace. I've not sampled enough of the Partagas Maduro No.1 to warrant a comment on it. I'd still love to try a H.Upmann maduro-wrappered cigar, just for curiosity sake I suppose. 2

I'm a fan of the Partagas Maduro No.1. They're like... comfort food, maybe? Not the most complex presentation, and I don't think it does well against the "cigars should be a journey" review principle. But it's nevertheless very tasty, and I have resolved to keep a box on hand, alongside a selection of the Cohiba Maduro 5 offerings, as well. 2
maxcjs0101 Posted July 18, 2017 Posted July 18, 2017 I think its pretty successful. Love the secretos which provides me about 30 mins of relaxation. If only it could be priced like the Partagas Shorts lol 2
NSXCIGAR Posted July 18, 2017 Posted July 18, 2017 I think it was a success at 6 years and still now at 10 years. Sales seem to have always been good, and perhaps Rob can confirm if they've held up since 2013. I've been pleasantly surprised with all the examples I've had, primarily the Secretos. The price is prohibitive for me and I'm not a big fan of 52 RG. $10/stick is a real tough call for a cigar the same size of the Trini Reyes and if I'm dropping $18-20/stick, I'm not sure the Magicos and Genios are really going to be my choices. But, they have always appeared to sell well, particularly for what is in reality a super-premium cigar and they have pretty much always maintained a fairly high level of quality, and they also seem to age extremely well both short and medium-term. 3
