westg Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 Loved the place, thought I would share a couple of shots. Came back in with 110 sticks and was expecting to pay around $ 500 Aus duty. I still can't believe I was let through with a caution. I did declare them as well . westg Posted March 10, 2013 Author Posted March 10, 2013 Some great looking sticks, congrats &enjoy. Good news about not paying duty Cheers Yep very nice. The du Dauphin are not a pretty stick, however I managed to get a box last year, thay are one of my favourite cigars of all time. So a box with same code and revisado years etc ,just had to have them. Not a good pic sorrrry folks. Been chasing the de Roi for some time, so to find a box from 03 absolutely delighted. I came across some five packs of des Dieux in Emerates Towers LCDH which looked very nice and I wish I grabbed them all..but I rang the Airport in Dubai and thay told me thay had a box or two there, so I was going for a box, both outlets new nothing of our conversation and had none in stock. When I saw a box in LFTW / H (sold) was really peeved still can't get the elusive box of des Dieux. All in all very happy to get some nicely aged boxes.Sorrry Tony this was meant for Headstand. Two posts up Because you like the Dip 4 so much will bring you the longer version on the 24th..Might give you an excuse to vacate your brunch early ..if you wanted to.
DrunkenMonkey Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 Still pinching myself. Let of with a caution..no duty..I was 122 sticks over my allowance. Didn't ask why just smiled and walked off . Looks like you had a surplus on your karma account. Beautiful cigars.
Duxnutz Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 Congrats. Am off to Dubai Wednesday. Can you give me any intel?
westg Posted March 10, 2013 Author Posted March 10, 2013 Nice finds mate Thankyou for the advice..really helped
westg Posted March 10, 2013 Author Posted March 10, 2013 Congrats. Am off to Dubai Wednesday. Can you give me any intel? The airport has plenty of 520's and 66's for much less than the LCDH's in town. One at Emerates towers and one at Jumeirah beach residence. Both LCDH have some aged stuff, I found the staff not that helpful, so have a good look for yourself, Plenty of Roman Alones extra and various other EL and regionals..I found the regular production stuff at both to be average. Heaps of five packs of Hoyo in all formats if you want to spread it, I was going for box's though. The LCDH in Jumeirah beach has plenty of Punch discontinued cigars so take your time and have a really good look . It has an amazing lounge and seating area at the front of the building which is opposite to the beach so plenty to look at ,sit back have a cigar and watch the world go by. Only down side is thay don't sell alcohol..so coffeee or a coke ..PM me if I can help any more.
Perla Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 very very nice finds. Congrats Wish I could find some dauphin for a reasonable price.
gersonmorelli Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 Westg, I'm Dubai right now and already found some great stuff at Dubai Duty Free (03 HdM du Roi, 03 Partagas SdC 2 and Bolivar RE UAE). Prices were great. However I wasn't impressed with Jumeirah Beach Residence's LCDH. Didn't notice the discontinued Punchs though. Only 3 regionals (Punch Emiratos, Bolivar UAE and RA Greece Cyprus). Plenty of LE including Cohiba 1966 for USD 400 (USD 370 at the Duty Free). From the places you've been which one would you recommend?
westg Posted March 19, 2013 Author Posted March 19, 2013 Check Emirates Towers as well (LCDH )..I found that no one knew of any aged stock untill I found it myself ..at all stores most of all the airport. those 03 Partagas seemed to have by passed me , glad you found them though. The Bolivar RE UAE, I must have checked at least 20 box's and gave up on them, did not like construction. My advice to you is if you see something you like even in a five pack buy them then and there, I missed out on some really nice des Dieux simply because I was chasing a box. I also limited myself to two box's at Jumeirah beach residence becuase I wanted to see what the other stores had.....we have to pay hefty duty on any more than three cigars in Australia so I was stretching it. So check LCDH at Emirates towers off Sheik Zayed rd..is a train stop very close by..or I found cab fares in Dubai very resonable. Good luck I hope this helps.
