Price hike soon

lol the price of a D4 in a London B&M is around £25 already! In my local B&M they are £18 and that is 350 miles away from the big city!

Seriously? Wow! I just used the price on Mitchell's site. Come to think about it that makes some sense. I visited the Davidoff shop in London last year and paid 28£ for a Cohiba Siglo IV. They actually had some cuban Davidoff in stock (no.1's) and they were around 100£...actually seemed like a good deal compared to the regular production stuff (but obviously I don't have 100£ to spend on one cigar).

i am involved in the industry and i can state that the price increase is no near the 27% as outlined in that post. Habanos raises its price every year april 1 to account for the rise in costs...the price increase is usally anywhere from 3% to 7% depending on cigar, market and distributor...the distributors to usually be hit the hardest are the ones who are involved in the grey market and who are known by imperial/habanos..many distributors even take the hit in their margin...

...Australia would have to be one of the worst countries in the world for tabacco taxes. Each year, we now know, it will get much worse.

Australia, Britain, and Canada. Good ol' taxes. Long live the Queen!!!!

Petrolistan, Gasistan

Brilliant

Yup. Well played, Smallclub. LOL.

Imagine...the price of a PSD4 will be $20+ in london. Absolutely crazy.

Current retail pricing for the Canadian market (all taxes included in) is either just under or just over $29 CDN now (that's at the main authorized chain - usually the smaller B&M's are a bit more, ranging from 5-25% more). Pricing back in August 2011, before these recent price hikes, was $26.15 CDN per stick.

All I know is, aside from domestic sales being hurt by this, international vendors like Czar's might even notice a slight uptick in sales, regardless of the price hike, due to more and more people unfortunately turning away from their b&m corner stores, and instead relying more and more on online vendors.
