ajgagnon Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Hi all, Just got a bonus at work. The wife agrees I need more cigars! Please help!
JJlavine4 Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 BRC is what I would buy. But I`ve had some PSD4s with some age on them that were incredible. Difficult decisions...
zmancbr Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 PSD4...but I'm a huge partagas nut. Its my favorite Marca. The boli RC are pretty good too so you rly can't go wrong with this decision but I'd still do the PSD4 first hehe
stargazer14 Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Problem for me is I see this as an 'apple or oranges' type of question - to me these are very different cigars. Should I get the Porsche or the new Corvette? hmmmm... I didnt take the poll as as I'd take both smokes but on a different day. 1
Colt45 Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 If these are the cigars you're interested in, you could always go for a dozen of each.....
IcedCanuck Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 I'd grab a box of each. Both of those robustos are goto sticks for me that are always in my humidor's main rotation.
Hubba Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 I have recent boxes of both...both gorgeous. Must say over time though the bolis have been more consistent.
papatrips Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Bolivar all the way and they age amazingly!
stargazer14 Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 These cigars come by the dozen?? Damn, my box only has 10!!
brassie00 Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Can't go wrong with either ,but BRC are more consistent
bdp Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Boli RC & JC caught me from the first one I had and I've not been disappointed by one yet. I've only smoked a handful of PSD4s, and found them a little ho-hum and flat. Just my 2c worth, rounded down.
Habanos2000 Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 You have to get both. Both are excellent cigars each in their own right. Just make sure they get selected for you if at all possible. HQ or higher.
Jason55555 Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 http://www.friendsofhabanos.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=113458 I just got both of these cigars (as you can see from the post) both amazing the BRC 2012 is one amazing smoke a little spice and full of creamy coffee flavors and a lot of sweet floral notes. The PSD4 2012 is my go too cigar amazing also you got more of a wood, spicy, sweet dark chocolate flavors coming thew with tiny bit of earth. So.... basically you got BRC a great anytime cigar that is - creamy coffee sweet floral notes VS PSD4 a good relaxing cigar after lunch maybe dinner, that is in your face chocolate, spicy, wood, earth cigar good Cuban flavors. So depends on what flavors you prefer any 2012 box is a winning choice.
mk05 Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 If money allocated is only for one full box, 2x10ct. 1
SCgarman Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 Boli Royal Corona any day. PSD4s are so mass produced, that is why they are so inconsistent and so many folks critique them for the worse. If you want Partagas flavor and consistency go with the Shorts.
Hazza Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 I agree with many here, BRC's are far more consistent and you stand a better chance of getting great quality, BUT, if you can manage HQ or PSP PSD 4's, I would personally prefer them. 1
apaniagua Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 BRC... Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
toasterhead Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 http://www.friendsof...howtopic=113458 I just got both of these cigars (as you can see from the post) both amazing the BRC 2012 is one amazing smoke a little spice and full of creamy coffee flavors and a lot of sweet floral notes. dangolf18 Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 It's been about 2 years since I've had a Boli RC so I can't comment on current production. Having said that, you can't go wrong with current production PSD4. Go for the PSD4.
ajgagnon Posted February 22, 2013 Author Posted February 22, 2013 Wow, this is a healthy rivalry. I've had the PSD4 and loved them (as with most Partagas), and I've had BBF and BPCs and liked them as well. I have some PSP2 that are incredible. Tough choice. My other box is going to be the Trini Reyes if they aren't sold out.
BonVivant Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 No vote here, but for consistency BRC wins - exclusive Partagas Factory roll for decades PSD4 from Partagas factory only!!! - wins in spades over BRC
winelover Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 Apples and oranges for me too, so get both or toss a coin. 1
ajgagnon Posted February 22, 2013 Author Posted February 22, 2013 Right. I went with the Trinis and the BRC for now, but I might get another friend or two in for orders this weekend too so we can do some splits. Thanks, gents!
Bcrowell Posted February 23, 2013 Posted February 23, 2013 With all of the sales and LFTHs I've purchased two of each in the last couple months. The boli is one of the best cigars I've had. That being said I will never go without PSD4s in my humidor. Does that help?
