jazzmonkey Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 Hi, I haven't tried a lot of brands, I was wondering if 3 Packs Sleeves or a couple of singles are a good option for sampling different types of cigars. If buying from the same vendor, are there more chances of getting fakes than a box? I'm not implying the vendor would pass fakes, btw. Just a question from a noob. Thanks.
mkz Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 I was wondering if 3 Packs Sleeves or a couple of singles are a good option for sampling different types of cigars. In my opinion: Yes!
brazoseagle Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 Get some singles from your "host" here at FOH. Rob, "The Czar" "El Presidente" can throw you together a sampler of what's smoking well, or what he thinks might fit your taste preferences. The last thing you need to worry about through him is fakes!
finecigar Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 I'd say singles are a good route. For me, I've had some issues with the 3-pack sleeves, with construction mainly. Have gotten a lot of bad quality cigars by buying those. Not tubos though, those are usually better condition.
stunod Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 I like the 15 packs ie 5 of the 3 packs. I buy my Montecristo #2 and Petite Edmundos this way. They seem to have more age on them. I love the PE, they come in tubes. Grab one, put it in your pocket, and go.
jazzmonkey Posted February 8, 2013 Author Posted February 8, 2013 All the 3 Packs I want to try are in tubes. I'm thinking to start with one pack of each: Cohiba Siglo VI H.Upmann Magnum 50 Hoyo Epicure NO.2 RyJ Short Churchill Bolivar Tubos NO.2

It's been a consistent smoke over the years and it's my go-to. Not too big, not too small. Love em, and the economical prices of them, too. Looks like some great choices! Enjoy!
